    Hi There:
Unless you've been hiding under a rock, Apple dropped its Logic Pro X 10.6 update last week. One of the big new features is the Ableton-like Live Loops feature. Further, there is direct hardware support for it not only with Logic Remote on iOS, but for the Novation Launchpad.

With that latter, I'd like to try and take a stab at mapping Maschine Jam to use Live Loops in Logic. So far, what I've done is very basic: I can navigate up-and-down, right-and left. I can play and stop cells (though right now, those are quirky: mapping these quickly is kinda buggy).

Within Maschine Jam, I'd like to not only make the pads active so that I can trigger one cell, multiple cells, or a scene of cells. Also, it would be cool if I can make it so that RGB colors work with the pads so that the pad colors match the cell colors. I'm not sure if the RGB colors is possible, but I have to think that I can match the 8x8 gird on the controller to at least become triggers.

Any insight on how to go about this would be appreciated; thanks much!
    V.

Hey Velanche, the two of us are on the same planet! I was wondering how to use the MASCHINE JAM to play those LIVE LOOPS too. How were you even able to get the UP and DOWN, RIGHT and LEFT and even the cell launching to work? Hit me back! I'm pretty MIDI efficient, Maybe 2 brains working on this can solve it. I don't think NI has any incentive to help. After Monday's release of 10.5, NI has to be shittin bricks! Thanks!

I was also looking into this, but didn't get very far due to the buggy Control Surface assignment editor of Logic Pro.

I did successfully make a mapping of Live Loops to Maschine Scenes. This works perfect to align your Maschine Scenes to the Logic Pro scenes.

See added screenshot for a basic example.

If combined with mapping the Maschine Jam to Live Loops, this would create a very deep integration between Maschine and Logic.

I'm very interested in this, as well. If anyone is willing to share their template with their progress so far, I am happy to see where else I can get on it!

Nice. Would you like to share this routing?

It's very easy to setup yourself, but here is two Logic Templates with Maschine Scene mappings

Haven't shared Logic Templates before, so I hope it works like this.

It's one basic template with 16 Scenes mapped to Logic Live Loops, and one more extensive template, with again 16 Scenes, but using the Maschine MultiOutput instance, with each group having a separate mixer channel in Logic Pro.

I set the midi channel to 16. Should work straight away. If not let me know.

If it doesn't work, and/or you want to do create the mappings yourself, I made these mappings as follows:

    - Load a Maschine instance in Logic

    - Create a loop in Logic for each Scene in Maschine

    - For each loop, put a corresponding midi note in the loop at the start. Specifically: in the first Logic loop, draw one midi note at the lowest note (C-2 in my case). For each subsequent loop, move the note one up corresponding to the next Maschine Scene.

    - In the top Maschine menu, go to Edit -> Midi Change and set enable Scene midi change (with your preferred midi channel)

    - Change colors and Loop / Scene names according to preferences

    That's it!

    Hey!
So far I opened the basic template without any issues. That looks like a game changer for me!
I‘ll have a deeper look now.

    Good work!

    EDIT:
I was laughing while reading this post again because I wasn‘t aware of this Maschine-feature within the Maschines edit-section. Before I thought always about MIDI-routing of sounds and groups.

With this feature, no routing is necessary to setup this workflow. This is also possible for triggering sections, lock states and programm changes within Maschine. I just missed that feature since I never required it until now. Sry

The Workflow would be amazing if I get everything to work :D

    :)
I just modified the basic template a little.
For the ability to record/add silence, I just added an empty pattern to Scene 1 within Maschine. Now this should serve as „silence loop“ during recording from LiveLoops into Logic‘s arranger.

Finally, the first Loop/Scene serves always for silence.

The same Template should perfectly work for all Maschine Controllers.

Looks like the Logic Sequencer cannot be controlled by MIDI. Any Ideas?

In this case you don’t control Logic with your controller.
Logic serves as host for Maschine (plugin) and with the routing from the template prepared LiveLoops are triggering scenes within Maschine.

Yes that's what happens with the Logic Template.

But Im trying to Control Logic With my Maschine JAM in Midi mode.

Trying to find the perfect way of Mapping and Using the NI Controller Editor.

Not sure if Jam offers a MIDI-mode. If so, switch to it and then go to Logic‘s controller assignment.

Yes it does! :) The problem is the Controller Assignment is currently very flakey with assigning midi to Live Loops. That's where velanche (afaik) and I haven't been able to succeed yet

If anyone has been able to get things working, would be great to hear!

Yep Like Bardo said, it does. Hope we could work together to find the perfect workflow in Logic 10.5 :D

I made the same experience right now. I tried to assign "stopp all cells" or "row" 1 to 16 via MIDI-CC in Logic. I gave up.
I hope for a next update. In general I found some bugs in 10.5. Time to wait.

Now I'm struggling with this. I loaded it up but Im not sure how to use. I expected a receive Multi-Output of MIDI into those specific cells. Would you explain how you work with it?

The other way I'm thought about:
If MIDI causes problems maybe the routing of audio into those cells could be helpful.

Your BASIC-TEMPLATE is quite good. I really really like it.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
As I mentioned before, I added an empty pattern to record silence to avoid Maschine`s background playback. That means I kept one Loop/Scene free for this.
I also tried to "BOUNCE IN PLACE" of single MIDI-regions after recording of different scenes. It worked so far - with a bit more rendering time.
    See picture:

(after a short recording and "bounce in place" of one region)
    Screenshot.png

    EDIT:
Later on I also renamed the Loops in Logic with out "zero" (eg. 3 instead of 03). As you can see on the green Clip, within the arranger it shows up by Scene 0 (because of 03) - this could lead to a bit of confusion.

    Duistere Bardo:
Again WELCOME to the community and thank you for your valuable contribution! ;)

I forgot to mention, I added a 17th Scene in Logic Pro without any midi note, so you can get back into to controlling Scenes from the Maschine hardware and software any time you want to, and still play around with Logic Loops at the same time.
