    Hi all,

First time to the forum, so please be gentle and help out if you can. Have been playing and using Traktor for years and really enjoy the kit. Fairly recently I started buying some vinyl again and then decided to buy a Audio Technica AT-LP 120USB direct drive turntable. Now it's only recently hit me that I could use the S8 to play vinyls (mostly movie soundtracks) so I decided to hook it all up thinking it would be dead easy.

2 or 3 hours later I cannot get a sound out of Traktor. I'm pretty sure that I have RTFM. Vinyl deck is connected to channel D and set to phono. I can see in Traktor Audio Setup that Channel D is phono and is receiving some sort of signal. However channel D on the mixer does not show anything in the meters, i.e. nothing lighting up at all.

Have Googled this quite a bit and it seems that not many people are playing ordinary vinyl with S8s which is fair enough, but the platform can handle a lot of inputs and this really should be straightforward. What am I missing guys?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice offered. I was thinking of getting an external mixer but I really shouldn't need this. BTW the vinyl deck has its own pre-amp and the ground wire is already in place so no need for a separate connection.

Faders are all up, cross-fader has been set as well so I should have A, B and D. No other problems at all. Maybe it's the beer and the end of a busy week, but I can't get to the bottom of it and it's frustrating as hell.

    Cheers.

    Garry.

Hi, Garry ! Try pressing the orange "Tractor" button on the controller...

Thanks for the post McOld, what am I missing here? When I scan the S8 controller there isn't an obvious button called Traktor, that's orange or otherwise. Is this to do with setting deck focus or something else? Maybe you an post a pic to help me out? Cheers. Garry.

It's the orange button with the Traktor logo, at the top of each channel. It should switch the deck to Direct Thru or Live Input.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have now found out how to get sound from vinyl playing through Channel D. I had to set Dec D to Live Input, under Preferences, Decks Layout. OK, great I thought, but the sound quality is total sh!te, really poor, lots of noise and totally unacceptable. Vinyl plays perfect when not running through Traktor, so no worries about the vinyle deck. It's new and plays fine on its own.

    Input routing Deck D
    7 - D Left
    8 - D right

This vinyl deck does not have a ground wire attached to the back of the S8, but when I Googled this, it shouldn't need one but I am beginning to suspect it does. If that's the case, it's a waste of a vinyl deck and this deck is useless to play with a PC and Native Instruments.

    Any other thoughts, guys?

    Thank you.
