Playlists and Folder

Hi There,

I have just switch to Traktor from other DJ software, and I would like to know how Traktor Pro 2 handles Playlist and Folders. Is there a difference? In the past I have only had Playlists. I want to start creating lists in Traktor, how should I use Playlists and Folders.

If I am creating a collection of say “Chart Music” is it better to use a Playlists and Folders?

If I am creating a specific set for a gig is it then better to use a Playlists and Folders?

Anyone offer advice?

 

the collection is the big database and from that you should build playlists.
there are many advantages NOT to use actual folders on your hdd.

you can create playlists and playlist folders like you want

 

are you talking about folders for your files on your hdd,
or about the possibility to have certain playlists within dedicated folders,
to not clutter up all the space in the browser tree of tp?
that`s a big difference.
i personally, like the folders very much.
i only look at folders, beneeth the collection itself.
then, after opening one of the folders,
i start to see the playlists within the resp. folder.
that`s very neat!

 

Thanks Milesahead, that helps. I already have Traktor Pro 2 and I was talking about Playlists and Folders inside Traktor Pro. When I right click to create a new playlist I also have the option to create a new folder. My question was what is the difference between Playlists and Folders and how they behave inside Traktor's Browser tree.

 

Folders cannot store files only other folders and playlists. Playlists will only store files.
