Please bring back the FM7 randomize features...

...or how do you expect anyone to create FM sounds - from scratch???

 

Sure since randomized Sounds are extremly hard to edit...:S

...since I don't know what I'm exactly doing with the FM7 the randomizer has always been a great helper to get some sound you'd tweak and refine later on. (and it worked very good on existing sounds, too) In fact, every synth should have such a detailed randomizer - it's a great 'inspiration provider'...

 

I'll vote for Randomize too.

I have often used this function with fine settings to get subtle random variations of sounds, or coarse settings to play the "slot machines" and I have always ended up with lots of patches that are unique and useful.

Alas....NI seems too busy working on Kore and DJ stuff to care about an update to FM8.

 

...that's why I like it so much - the level of sophistication that its providing, that you can decide what target should be radomised to what degree. For me it's an unbeatable feature and it's very hard to understand why it has been dropped. I really hope, it'll come back...

I'd like the whole FM7 back on my Intelmac. It's more pretty in every sense.

 

+1 for the randomise feature - sometimes it's a great way of creating sounds you might not have thought about! I've had some great sounds by randomising, then tweaking a basic idea to my liking!

Also, I am amongst those who prefer the interface of the FM7: looking better, easier to see/read, and more in line with the spirit of the DX7. The FM8 interface is quite dull to me.

Does this mean the FM8 Sound Browser combined with the Easy Edit page isn't working for you guys?

 

I think they are just saying it is useful to get a surprise sound that could provide inspiration. There should be a randomize function that allows you to set the amount of randomization before clicking randomize so it is a type of "smart" randomization...

 

but that being said easy morph is very good for creating new and "good" sounds quickly.

 

Morph is a bit too linear to get the crazy original sounds that a randomizer will produce, I think.
