"He he he" is 3 plus "phasemeter" = 4.

I find phase meter's inferior to being able to have both tracks lined up like the above screenshot. Phase meters if used mean we have to trust the computer, I would rather want to be able to look at something. Traktor has beat gridded quite a few of my tracks wrong and I'm too lazy to fix it.

    what about ungriddable tracks:|

the phase meter only works with perfect grids

    try gridding james brown tracks:eek:

Either way you are trusting the computer. The phase meter works with the same transients you are looking at with overlapping waveforms. I've learned to trust my ears before the computer or my eyes. You could fix your beatgrids much faster than NI will add overlapping waveforms. There have been many requests for overlapping waveforms or parallel waveforms from people who have learned to mix visually using VDJ, Mixvibes, Serato, etc. I don't think it will ever be changed. The choices are beatgrids, phase meter or by ear. I can see how parallel waveforms can be a good way to mix but I find the phase meter to be an excellent reference as well.

Phase meter works with ungridded tracks as well using the transients. Something like James Brown with syncopated rhythm and loud horns will put transients all over the place and be difficult to mix by eye using overlapping waveforms or phase meter. Some music is impossible to grid and very difficult to mix by eye.

    to rass

thanks for the time you took in making my knowledge grow:) :)

if i understand you correctly the phase meter should work fine even on ungriddable tracks ie: 70 disco music

so my question is: why is the meter going all over the place with 2 tracks beat matched perfectly:eek:

is there a set up i'm overlooking or is it a bug

in my understanding the meter should be dead centre when tracks are snare to snare.

if you know how to achive this please set me up

    thanks in advance

Make sure you have selected one of the tracks as master. If you are using the internal clock as master it won't work. Also, make sure there is no grid marker. Traktor will place a grid marker at the start of the track on analyzing. If it's wrong then so will be the phase meter. Without a grid the phase meter will jump a bit at some parts of the track, but if there is a clear defined beat it should be easy enough to read. Especially with two tracks like you posted in your original picture.
