The new Plugin format Rack extension of Reason is really nice and it would be nice, if NI would create a Rack Extension version of Kontakt and Guitare Rig! Wow, it would be really nice! :)

You should look on propellerheads.se and you can see, they already done it! The name is rack extension and has the same and more functions as VSTs!

    NIMichi,
Sorry to say, but you have swallowed the silver spoon of Propellerhead's propaganda.

Also apart from the many, many, reasons (pun intended) why this is NOT technically feasible, you have to also ask if this would make good business sense for NI (not purely for you as a user)?

Although one developer claims to have already "ported an effect in 15mins," for something as complex as Kontakt, realistically, NI would be looking at YEARS to do this.

Anyway since NI already have a very high market saturation, they do not NEED to make a RE version. It would NOT make sense for them to spend their time and resources doing this for the small number of Reason users... especially when you consider that an even smaller percentage of them would actually buy a RE version of Kontakt.

Good luck though with your (RE)quest. (pun intended again) ;)

Yep. Uhbiks aren't nearly as complex as Kontakt. That's why it won't happen. :)

Rack Extensions is the biggest crap and just a marketing thing. There is nothing really new behind this, it just contains code from 3rd party developers instead from Propellerheads. Its time for VST! Nobody should buy this ****.

    cheers

not years but maybe hours instead of minutes?

If they release REs I'm going to laugh at you all! :D
This will be great for me!

If they don't release REs we're going to laugh at you back. :D

Sorry but it is clear from your statement here, that you clearly have NO understanding of the amount of work and effort that porting an application would take.

And that doesn't even take into account that not all apps can be ported and may even need to be RE-CODED from scratch. :S

In fact, if I was a gambling man then my money would be on an UNIQUIVOCAL "no" from NI.

    Sorry.

hehe! speculation. Im hanging out for RE versions of NI stuff. I use reason live because of it's stability and to be able to use reaktor, Kontakt, Massive live would be amazing!

"This is not another plugin format—Rack Extensions are full Reason rack citizens, giving you the same great experience as any other Reason device. Load them in Combinators, route cables on the back, automate all parameters, and experiment with the safety of undo'

I have a feeling some of the comments are from people who have never used reason. Haters gonna hate.

I reckon NI will make RE's, after all it's a whole area of the market they currently have no access to, so why wouldn't they?

However, i don't think they will jump into it with their flag ship products (although i think it's a bit premature to say it will never happen) but i can see them porting some other, smaller products over first. I could see Massive and FM8 as Re versions (or even a revival of Pro53), i also don't think it would be a million miles away to see Kontakt player or Reaktor player either.

No, nothing must be recoded or ported!
If you would inform you better than you would recognize that there is a tool kit with which a code can be combiled within minutes into the rack extensions format!

And if you would inform YOURSELF better, you would see that there are already a number of developers that have looked into this and said that SIGNIFICANT portions of their VSTs/VSTis would need to be recoded in order to work.

Hint: Start with the Propellerheads RE thread at KVR from the bit where all the 3rd party developers jump in. ;)

Doesn't Reason already have a sampler?

Yes... NNXT... But it's nowhere near in the same league as Kontakt.

Yes because there is no advanced sample editor, no grouping(round robin, voice groups), no timemachine2 and no scripting for personal configuations.
