A few more suggestions: Some of those on-board video chips (AGP) waste a ton of processing power compared to a humble PCI video card. An in-slot AGP card would be better than a chip on the motherboard. You can move the sound card to the highest PCI slot, those slots share resources and have priorities. And isolate a drive to its own channel rather than put two on a cable if you are using IDE. I may have missed it but you should post cpu load times via the XP Task Manager, it can be found by right click on the task bar. It usually crackles around 90% load. You should not have any problems, I use a 1.2ghz pentium III and it's always low demand.

Couple of other easy things to try that have helped my computer perform much better with KORE & NI Products

    1) In the Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance: Experiment with only checking what you really need to have running. I would start with unchecking all of them, do some AP testing, and then bring in your favorites one at a time...and so forth.

    2) As strange as this may sound, in the Control Panel/Mouse:
Uncheck enable "Pointer Shadow". This one was posted somewhere awhile back and did make a difference.

Hope this helps you and others,
    Andreuz
