PLEASE HELP !! - FM8 64 bit does not play starting note in arpeggiator

Mmm... not really a workaround to use the ARP though is it!!!

Anyone any suggestions for another good ARP?

 

So is this still a thing all these years later?!?

I just started digging into the FM8 arpeggiator, and wasted hours thinking I was doing something wrong. I ended up sequencing/recording midi for each note through the whole tune, and turning off the ARP. What a drag.

 

Yes indeed unfortunately this bug has been known and reported for many years and never been fixed. I now decided to not show the arpeggiator any more in my sound design classes here in NYC even though it was one of the most attractive features to entice beginners..the bug however is confusing and i would not want to undermine the credibility of NI by confronting my students with such embarrassing problems in one of the main NI legacy synths.
NI please get this resolved if anyway possible, FM8 is such an important and great sounding instrument that it needs to be supported to the fullest !

 

Heinrich, it's better to open a ticket via Support to inform NI.
The forum is for users try to help users.
Rarely NI members read or repair legacy synths if they don't inform personality.

 

Its July 2020, the world is trying to develop a vaccine for a real virus (bug) but this bug in FM8 is still there and not fixed since the last 6 years or more !
Its currently version 1.4.1 which is many updates since this bug was reported but it still exists.

Developer folks at NI, we all know this is tough times currently and everyone's doing their best. But this one's lingering for the last more than 6 years.

Could someone at the helm in NI please let us avid FM8 users know when this bug will be fixed ?
Is it even worked upon and could we see this fixed in the next FM8 update ?

I was long time struggling to find some rational cause to keep FM8 and other NI synth in my plugin folder here in 2020.
I lost the battle.
Dexed sounds so much better than FM8.
+Reaktor and all other NI synth has been also uninstalled at my computer,
because there are better alternatives from other developers - software synths with great GUI that supports my workflow.
So In he end, I am thankful for Battery and Kontakt. In 2020, these are, that can't be replaced, and I will keep using them.
Good bye FM8, and good bye to the viewers of this topic!

 

There are no realistic alternatives for Reaktor and all it can do.

Dexed sounds better as a DX7 machine, but doesn't have half the features of FM8.

 

Are you ever build ensembles in Reaktor?
Try it please.

 

I understand and agree that Reaktor is a very capable and powerful tool for instrument creation.

However, I would humbly like to say that this bug which I suppose should be a minor one in FM8 should be addressed and fixed in FM8 itself by the experts in NI who built FM8 and should not necessitate building the feature completely in Reaktor.
Of course that can be attempted by people who are good at Reaktor instrument building as a separate exercise.
But the bug in FM8 has to be fixed in FM8 itself by the right persons in NI who know FM8 in and out and backwards.

 

You're implying that experts who build FM8 are still employed by NI, which might not be the case...

Can't really say (but Georg is in Reaktor team, obviously Stephan Schmitt has his own Nonlinear Labs now, and Daniel Haver and Mate Galic don't do programming ). Note that the list is all the people ever working on FM8 since it got released. That's a lot of years now, of course people are gonna come nad go.

 

I agree people who worked on FM8 directly may or may not be still working in NI right now.
But I can't fathom why fixing this seemingly simple bug has not happened for the last 6 + years !
Considering FM8 was always one of the premium synths of NI.
Though the bug may seem simple in nature, its a real turn off when using Arp in FM8.

 

It's probably a matter of prioritization. Massive X is the premium synth of NI now.

 

True we can say that today, Massive X is indeed where the focus of NI would probably be.
But its not an overhaul of FM8 that we are asking for, just fixing this silly little bug which should be a much minor operation in terms of time and effort.

 

Georg and his team finished and updated Reaktor 6.4 - if he don't drive to holiday ... he can work at FM8?

I tried to a few days ago. Support section wasn't working. I just tried again and was able to send a support request.
Now keeping fingers crossed for a reply with some action.

 

Georg just answered in Reaktor forum to a question of me.
So he is at work.

 

It doesn't work that way.
