Please can someone explain simply how to route different cells to a separate track in cubase 4. I have been searching the forums and reading the manual for hours now. Im sorry if this is a stupid question but I am quite new to both battery 3 and cubase 4.

I simply want my drums separated off into snare on one track bass on another, toms and other electronic sound effects on another, so i can eq or add different effects to the separate samples.

My battery options is set up to have 8 input and output channels.
I then select my snare cell and under the volume and pan controls i see the pull down menu called "ch" i set this to St3/4... and my snare sample gets muted as expected....

...but then im not sure how to route it in cubase4 ?.
ive tried adding more input and output buses then selecting those in my audio tracks options but i must be doing something wrong because i cant get that snare to unmute ?

Please any help is really appreiciated. THANKS

I'm not at home now, but I've been through this recently myself. Somewhere in the VST instruments window of Cubase (where you have added Battery 3), there is a button to click and it will bring up a list of options, one of which will be to activate all battery channels. When you do this, you will get separate controls (fader, pan, etc) for all of the battery outputs. Open up the mixer to see it or in the project window under the battery vst entry. I struggled to find out how to do this and came upon it by chance. Let me know if it works for you.

Oh my god THANK YOU! that button is as small as a gnat, thanks for pointing it out.
Ive now activated the other channels as you said, so i presume i dont need to add more output buses like i was trying?

Can i check with you im using it the right way please?
From your help after activating the extra channels i needed, it shows up as extra instrument tracks under the battery 3 master track etc great.

now to add the effects im going to inserts and adding my reverb etc. is this the proper way?

    ANOTHER QUESTION is ...
i would like my snare drum (which is the one ive seperated off) to have no effects for the first 8 bars then to have them for the rest or in other parts...
.... is there anyway to record the effects amount or record them on or off at certain points of the track?... or do i have to create a whole new vst battery with the same kit, split the snare off again to another track ?

    THANKS AGAIN

    Hi Mattock,

I'm also new to C4 but I'm (really) shure this works. Please read the chapter "Automation" of your C4-manual ;-)

    So long...

Glad it helped. I think you're on the right track. I'm new to CB4 also and haven't done automation yet with Battery 3 but I have with another VST. I just tried to automate Battery aand it doesnt behave like the other vst, but I'll get back if I figure it out.
