+++++++1 again! dragging and dropping midi is far from my idea of the best workflow. If we could output the midi from a kit say into a midi track (and have it register the mutes as off notes) jam out for the whole track and then take that recorded midi file and use it to play maschine. this would be awesome. we can then just have that midi file play while we tweak the effects etc. and record the audio! instant track jam!

Not sure if I understand this. This feature is already there. You can play the pads on Maschine and record that directly into Cubase for example. I can set CB to loop whatever and build a pattern that plays back Maschine. I have the advantage of a far better sequencer and can record the audio after tweaking as you're saying.

I know this is different than asking for a Pattern recorded in Maschine to output to a daw midi track.

I would just really like to use Maschine as a midi sequencer (to sequence itself and other gear)as well as a drum sound source. since there is no way to currently record the midi automation of a jam in ableton- it would be cool to be able to at least record the midi note output for later use.

jbone1313- that is quite an undertaking but I am down to help!

Hey Mr. Mahogany, I'm trying to do this in Logic but it's not working for me.

Can you tell me the steps you took to get it to work in cubase ?

I did go into the sound MIDI batch setup and selected sounds to MIdi notes/ apply.

Then I should be able to just play pads from Maschine but Logic is not receiving MIDI from the pads.

I don't know if I can help so much because each daw is different. Do you have Maschine setup as midi send and receive? This may be confusing cause that how Cubase is but I load Maschine as a vst and then select Maschine both midi out put and input. After that it works. No need to configure midi sound batch setup.

I hope a Logic user like one of the mods can chime in and help you. Having this feature ,to me, takes away any need to have Maschine output the sequencer.

    Hi Mr M.

Thanks for replying man, you may actually point me in the right direction. OK, I have been trying to figure out how to set-up to send and receive midi. Can you tell me how you did this ?

As I'm saying Cubase terms may not be applicable. When you load a instrument in a midi track in CB you can then go to the midi track (or any midi track)and select what its out put is. In CB I just select Maschine that I just loaded. On the same track you can select its input . Here I would normally have my controller keyboard but instead I select Maschine as it shows up in the drop down. After this ,if I hit the Maschine pads ,it records right to the CB track. Not putting Maschine in record obvioudsly bypasses it when recording and I put the midi straight into Cubase.
