Many people have already asked for this feature for a while, and I propose to explain simply why you should really prioritize this fonctionality.

One very important aspect of music creation, and especialy regarding the linearity, is the use of variations over time. These are made thanks to automations when you want to record them and make a recorded song. In maschine, the only good (efficient) way to automate things over multiple scenes (which is crucial when you want something interesting musicaly) is to duplicate scenes using the +pat option.
Thus, it will duplicate patterns and fill your groups with more or less unwanted patterns, since they are only there for the (linked) automations variations, not because of notes variations. When you organise your 16 pads so you can quickly remember where is what, these additions screw everything.
The only way I found to fix this, is by coloring every new pattern, so I can distinguish notes variations (different colors) and linked automations (same color).

I think this is just some essential workflow behavior when you go into song creation mode, that's why I think we should be able to stay on the controller to achieve that, since taking the mouse in his hands each time one have to create a new pattern kills the workflow and the sake of adding patterns on the controller!
Plus, adding and changing colors could be done a lot more quickly than the way we're used to do on the software. Someone proposed a clever way to do this on Youtube sooner this year, you can view it there :

So please, Native Instruments, can you really think about adding this feature?

If Kontrol F1 can do it Maschine should have been able to do it a long time ago.
