    Hi,
I know everything is going to be plug and play when the drivers are allready installed. But I think this should change!
    Everytime I'll update something from NI, all drivers are installed. But I don't have a S8 + S5 + Z2 + etc. etc.
Please go back to the selectable options to select which drivers to install.

Now I have way to many options in my audio interface menu that all are not working because I don't own the hardware.
    It is annoying!
    it is confusing!
    Please
    Make
    it
    STOP!

Only plus side I can think about is when your computer/mac crashes right before a gig and you wan't to use someone elses computer/mac... But I don't wan't all of that on my computer for that one moment.. (I think for this issue the dj has to create a backup stick or something where he has all his settings/mappings/etc. so he/she could use someone elses pc/mac, that's something every dj should have. Always have a plan B ;))

I’m confused. Does Maschine installed drivers for Traktor controllers? Haven’t notice this on my end.

Not for traktor, but it does install every driver for maschine controllers and de Audio 6/8 etc drivers.

Traktor installs every controllers driver and komplete does the same

This drives me crazy! I was going to post this too.

My laptop's main drive is only a 120gb SSD, and NI Access keeps re-installing drivers I don't need after every update and they eat about 500mb of my free space for no reason whatsoever

I'm loving NI's improvements and updates lately, but this pointless issue needs addressing.

    Agree 100%.
Drivers should be automatically installed and detected via Windows 10 as well (and NOT through NI installers).

The installers give you the option of what drivers to install in the dialog. They also remember your last selection regarding this. The problem is that Native Access hides these options when you install from NA. It also hides important info like the alert to disconnect the hardware during install. All this should be shown during the install process regardless if you launch the installer manually from the downloads section or if NA does it.

In the Windows 10 scenario, the problem is that the drivers should be automatically installed via Windows update (like Roland does it).
Also it's almost 2018, disconnecting hardware to install the drivers should not be necessary (sort of laughable to be honest). At the very most a reboot should be prompted for if a reset is required.
    Ta.

Definitely don't want Windows handling this. Microsoft know nothing about what is going on with the driver. Just adds another point of potential failure. Not to mention it is not overly apparent in 10 how to manage driver versions should one be unruly. It will keep trying to reinstall either outdated or faulty driver every forced auto update. All NI need to do is allow users to select the driver when installing with Native Access, just like they do with the download installer.

I agree about disconnecting the hardware. However, if there is a technical reason this needs to happen then NI could make the installer force you to disconnect before continuing or at least show a warning that it detected the hardware and give you a chance to power it down.

Er seems like you are thinking pre Windows 10 when it was a load of crap.
Windows 10 has been updated to allow third parties to distribute their drivers with ease via Windows update.

Microsoft distributes the drivers, it will not make them. However Microsoft will do a basic test to see if the drivers are decent or not, always a good thing. That probably puts a lot of third parties off because they don't want to meet their standards (cheap thinking).
Anybody who has got any Roland gear that has Windows 10 driver support will know how easy it is. it's clean and it just works. It's a million times better than how NI does it.
You can disable driver installation as well via Windows update if you want on a per driver basis.

And overall it would be great to have the opportunity to disable/re-enable programms/drivers in native access

guitar rig and komplete may install those.. you can manually remove them... i had an issue with the old guitar rig/kore drives and the mk3 under os 10.11 mac..... i do have kore still...

you can write an apple script to do that, just create an extension and midi driver disabled in the library respectively, then then move the extensions and drivers back and forth.

I was wondering, has this issue been heard by NI staff?

I'm not getting much feedback from them on this forum.. I always have the feeling other product owners agree or disagree and that's it. Would be nice to get some more or clearer feedback if they will do something with it or not.

I'm confused. What issues does this actually cause? I know its unneeded but what problems arise from it?

I'm on Mac and haven't noticed any issues with this occurring.

It takes up space, time, and resources, and can be seen as hostile that a company would force you to install software on your personal computer that you do not need or want to install.

yes, and the tripe about cutting support for the mk1 because it needs to be driverless for ox 10.12 and 13 is still there and the driver is not included in the 2.6.9 + releases for macs but is for windows.... the mk1 works fine with 10.13 if you update the OS from 10.x, but not if you use native access on a new mac that came with 10,13. .. bascially, it is native access that prevents the mk1 from working on a 10,13 new mac, and not the tripe about the class compliance.

i updated a 2013 mac to 10.13 and the mk1 worked fine but it will not work on 2017/8 mac sold after 1013 came out if you use native access to install.
