Alright, I have had intermittent pops and clicks in the KONTAKT and KOMPAKT players when rendering files from MIDI to a new WAV track in ACID 5.0.

Please someone point me to a setting or something that will stop this nonsense.

My machine is a Dell 9100 Inspiron, 1.2g RAM, p4 2.8, HT disabled, Big fast drives, library on external USB2.0 drive, defragged. Latest RME HDSP CardBus drivers, Multiface box.
System runs very smooth for ACID 5.0, Vegas, Sound Forge, and FruityLoops. Only now with the NI VSTi players am I having these problems.

Is this thread silent because I am the only one having these problems, or is it that these are known problems and you just don't have any solutions?

Interesting level of forum activity by any standard.

Would you then recommend a place where I might actually get some help?

    Thanks for your help.

Fascinating approach, but it didn't really help.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi,

sorry for my late response. I'd need some more information.
Can ACID playback the arrangement in real-time without clicks ?
Is the extension DFD installed ?
Which Player / kompakt version is installed ?
Can you seee a bounce button on your Kompakt ?

    thanks

    Frank

It seems that many users of K2 are having the same problem with GPO. It get worse with Garritan Jazz and Bigband library. The point here ist that there is something very wrong with K2. GPO plays fine with N1.5 and both, GPO and GBB play also well with the Kontak player that comes with the library (GBB is not compatible with K1.5). I tried everything NI instructed me to do: I have a powerful computer (Pentium IV 2.8GHz, 2GB RAM and even a HD to store the samples and sampler, as instructed by NI). I've tried larger sample buffers and no luck. NI suggested also to use "sampler" mode instead of DFD (did not resolve) and to disable the HT in the BIOS. Does anyone know how to do that? Besides, HT was there when I used K1.5. So what got wrong with KONTAKT 2?

    Additional note on 22/03/2006
More recently, I found out that the "pops and clicks" noise is caused by the mumber of voices played and it seems that has nothing to do with DFD. The problem happens with polyphonic instruments (pianos and strings) from the Garritan GPO and Jazz-Bigband. Interesting to notice ist that the noise does not occur when playing with the Garritan Kontakt Player but it does occur when playing the same samples with KONTAKT 2. I could not produce the same noise with samples from the KONTAKT Library.

Has anyone experienced noise when sending midi control data to Kompact 2. I get it on all control channels (volume, pan etc.) Wondered if HT might have something to do with it.

Also, does HT count as a dual processor in the "enable dual processor" box in the "Options" menu?

    Cheers,

    ABH
