    Hey,

i was wondering whether or not i can use the Komplete Kontrol software which i got with Komplete Select with my MIDI keyboard, a Novation Impulse 49. I already installed it, and can set up and play notes alright, but, even with the Controller editor, i can't seem to find a way to make the knobs react to physical knob movement on my keyboard. Am i missing something? I tried it in standalone, and in the plugin version of Komplete Kontrol. Set up the "macro" knobs to the MIDI CC's my controller's knobs are set to, but, nothing happens.

Oh, and i already found this: https://www.native-instruments.com/...ed-with-a-regular-midi-keyboard-video.228471/ and other threads, but, they are of no help really. Nothing in there explains how you would set up a generic MIDI controller with Komplete Kontrol.

    Unfortunately no.

You can use a MIDI keyboard to play the instruments loaded within but not access any of the "smarts" of the software such as the mapped controls, Arp/Scale functions (you can play them, just not adjust), browser etc.

If you load KK into a DAW and host-map the controls from KK to the DAW then you can use MIDI controls to automate and control but that's no different from doing it directly with the plugin (without KK)

It's basically a proprietary software package for KK hardware only. Would love it to be opened up and built into things like Ableton Push but I doubt that will ever happen.

Thanks for the heads up. Fair enough. After all, they developed it for their hardware, so, being able to use it with ANY MIDI controller would have been rather a bonus. :)

I really like the software though. Clear and streamlined, how i like it.

Just checking if this is still the case.

Komplete Kontrol has been updated since this thread and will now allow any standard MIDI device to map to the 8 macro controls, page controls (for the macro page switching) and preset up/down controls so if a KK keyboard is not attached you will see this button:

Click it and you have a midi learn page:

    More info in the manual

    Hi,
Brand new here. Cannot find my Novation Launchkey 49 on the list of standard midi devices after opening Twenty Five/Komplete Kontrol. DAW is Studio One. Might that be the issue? I also have Ableton Live 9. Perhaps that's the correct choice?
    Thank you ~ RBG

You need to MIDI learn the Komplete Kontrol software parameters (the 8 knobs in the Komplete Kontrol software). It depends on how you set up your MIDI controller in Studio One. If you set it up with an existing template in Studio One for your controller (I don't know if there is any in Studio One), and you use Control Link, you can learn the Komplete Kontrol parameters like described here: https://s1manual.presonus.com/#Cont...l_Linking.htm?TocPath=Control%20Link%7C_____4

If you didn't set up your keyboard to work with Control Link in Studio One, then you have to do the MIDI learn directtly in the Komplete Kontrol plugin (click on "MIDI" in the top bar on the right).
