The Specs for a replacement DC adapter :

    Input: 100 to 240V - 60/50Hz - 0.4A
    Output: 9V - 1200mA - 10.8VA

    Has to be 1200mA (1.2)

The original transformer is manufactured by ANSMANN, part number 2109-0001

No, it falls short in power.
Spec says 1200, this one offers 1000mA.

    Things to make sure off:
    - voltage 9V
    - power at least 1200mA (more never hurts)
    - make dead sure you don't switch plus and minus

There's no harm if the PSU can provide more current (Ampere, milliamperes), your unit take what he need. KS4 will accept a range of 9-20 volts if my memory serves me well. Pretty confident it will work, I've measured the center pin, and even if this seems prety tight, this should fit it without much problem. I'll receive mine tomorrow.

Not that we can't find something under that price, but at least this one fits everywhere in the world with its different prong adapter.

    IMPORTANT:
I knew i had read this on the internal so i dug it out, MrLudwig makes a good point.

Anything less than 1200mA will draw to much power and could burn the adapter out.
This came directly from the NI Hardware guys so im taking it as gospel.

Usually at this point someone says something like "my dads and electrician and he says its fine", well you heard if from the NI Hardware guys so thats that.

Thats the official line as far as im concerned.

Looks like it but, im just a lowly Moderator. I suggest contacting Support for a definite answer. Include the Specs of the PSU in your email.

I don't see any reason why NI would refuse the above model. I'd ordered 2, once I have'em in my hands, I'll crack one to see how good and safe it is. The spec fit, and I used a lot of CUI psu in the past for some my own commercial design. Never had a glitch with them. The above also meet EISA and have an efficiency level of IV, which is the most complete/established one. The one coming with the S4 dosen't seems to have such compliance mention... yeah I know I lost a few with that one ;)

doesn't work, the connector is too small and does not enter in the S4
    This measures dont work: 2.1mm I.D. x 5.5mm O.D. x 12mm Female

then what is the exact measurement?

Can we fix with this? DC Power Supply Adaptor 2.1mm to 2.5mm
    http://cgi.ebay.es/2-1mm-Socket-to-...ultDomain_3&hash=item2309035ba7#ht_1080wt_905

    :(

I received an email from Ansmann:

I also sent an email to Native Instruments last week and i haven't been answered yet.... Will forward the same email today. Because i think it shameful that there is no support for this problem!
