1. Hi everyone,

Apple just released Logic Pro 10.5 for MacOS 10.15. We found out that Crush Pack, Mod Pack, Replika, and Replika XT will crash.

Our teams are currently working on a fix, and we hope to have this out to you as soon as we can!

    Best wishes,
    The NI Team

Hello everybody, it's the first time I'm posting here on the forums.
This might be a little off topic but I couldn't get any help by posting it into the S2/S4 section, it also speaks about an item that is common to all NI's controllers, so I'll try my luck here.

What brought me to speak out is a little issue I have encountered while using my S2 MK2 controller on and off the stage.
When I first got it I knew I was not going to use the cheap usb cable supplied by NI, I had bought the console from DjTechTools and got their custom USB cable with it. I also had my own neutrik 3,5 Jack connectors to plug the S2 into any mixer/speaker, without using the RCA to RCA cable supplied by DJTT, all of this to be sure that the cabling would have some serious quality and that I could put my controller anywhere on the stage without bothering about the cables.

However, there is just one thing that gets in the way while I'm preparing for a set or just recording/training at home: the POWER SUPPLY

Actually not the power supply itself, but its cable. Seriously, it is so short it looks like a phone charger. It pisses me off so bad, even at home, that I would just like to rip it apart and make a longer cable.

This said, I started to ask myself a couple questions:

On 500$ of hardware, was it so hard to pack in a power supply with 2 or 3 more meters of cable?
Did they even test the thing before putting it on the market? I could see it was too short from the unboxing, could they not see it was too short when they had it tested?
Didn't any pro tell them that 1.5m (yes it's just 1 meter and a half) of power cable is not enough for various kinds of setups?

I am constantly struggling to plug this short cable into the controller, often forcing myself to put the console in really awkward positions and pulling the cable underneath the pc or the S2 itself.
This is totally not what I expected for 500$, not what I expected from NI, expecially because a longer cable would have costed NOTHING and wouldn't have been a problem due to its foldability.

Please tell me if any of you have a solution for this. I'm afraid of aftermarket power supplies, but NI has put me in the conditions to need one.

PS: the S2 MK2 has a partial lenght of 40cm starting from where the power cable has to be plugged into. That means the correct lenght for a setup that has the power supply to the right is (1.5m - 40cm) = barely one meter total lenght. This becomes even less if the power source is beneath a desk.

hm, the power cables of turntables (or cd players) are much shorter... so from my experience, while space can be an issue in booths, power cord lengths are not. personally, i always take an 3-outlet with me in case someone didnt think about the fact that computers do need power too.

Buy your own supply, they aren't a specialised part. Any "stage" should have multiple outlets within arms reach though.

    Grab something like this:

Plenty of lengths available with a "piggy-back" plug to plug your laptop into as well.
(It's an Australian plug but I'm sure there's something like it that suits your country).

I was actually concerned about the fact that NI could just make a longer cable instead of letting us take care of these issues.

It is true that all stages have multiple outlets but the cable is so short it wouldn't reach them in most situations.

Bringing a power extension should not be the correct way to fix this problem as they do give you an Australian plug with about 30cm cable that goes into the power supply. They do not give that for the italian plug though.

Nice work on the web trawl ... unfortunately if you had real world experience you'll see the following:

    upload_2014-7-9_13-51-0.jpeg

Each of the adapters has the figure-8 format to go into the "wall-wart" section.

Any old figure-8 power lead will get you out of trouble or act as an extension lead.

Is the condescending attitude really necessary? Anecdotal evidence is not absolute.

Here is my "real world" NI power supply, without any figure-of-8 socket in sight.
