Let's assume that I've got a G5 that I do all my sequencing on. I own Komplete8, but have it installed on an old laptop. It works fine as a sound module, but not really capable of doing any serious audio work.

I'm mostly worried about Kontakt & Battery. How would I get those installed on the PowerPC? Would I have to get Kontakt 4? Should Kontakt 5 install on a G5? Same with Battery, should Battery 3 install on a G5?

Then, once I get the programs installed, how would I get the sound libraries on the G5? Should I just copy them off the laptop & install them on the G5?

Kontakt 4 and 5 don't work on G5, period. You need an Intel Mac for those. Kontakt 3 is the last version that installs on G5 Macs. Likewise, Komplete 8 cannot be installed on a G5 too.

    Time to upgrade ;)

Nothing in Komplete 8 will work on a PPC so if you're hooked on Komplete 8 you do need another system.

If you want to use your G5 for music production; sell Komplete 8 and get Komplete 5 second hand. It has Kontakt 3, Guitar Rig 3, Massive, Reaktor 5, Absynth 4, Battery 3, Akoustik piano, Elektrik Piano, FM8, B4 II and Pro-53.
In combination with Kore 2 and some kore soundpacks that's pretty cool stuff :)

And if you get another computer later a Komplete 5 to 9 upgrade is really cheap.

Thanks guys. I'll probably just continue to use it as a soundmodule on the laptop.
