I just got a pair of USB headphones and am wondering how to set them up so I can use them to pre cue the next song.

    ASIO4ALL.

However, I would strongly recommend getting an external sound card if you don't have one already, and just getting a standard pair of headphones with a 3.5mm-to-1/4" adapter.

Mainly, more information on your setup is needed.

timecode cds or vinyls to control your tracks like using real vinyl or cds (requires at least the audio 4 and at least 1 turntable)

Well all I have is the Numark Mixtrack so I don't think I need a timecode and is the the cheapest external soundcard?

there are cheaper ones but you get the best results with NI hardware for ni software (logically)

Makes sense but could you list some of the cheaper options?

Also I'm just using the headphone jack on my computer to hook up to the speakers. I don't think the audio 2 dj wouldn't really work for me.

I think your getting this wrong dude.

Firstly, soundcards dont use the headphone out they use USB or FireWire.

Also using the headphone jack is a terrible way to use Traktor. Onboard soundcards are not good.

Lastly the NI Audio2 is actually one of the cheapest on the market.

You could look at the Numark DJ IO or the Maya 44. Anything cheaper than this is probably either very bad or not a soundcard.

Well I haven't actually used traktor live yet. I've been using the Vestax Spin and DJay. The Spin has a built in soundcard so I didn't have to use an eternal soundcard most of the speaker I used either my headphone jack or my line in. I have a could 1/8th inch adapters but I think they drop the quality a lot.
Could I use something like this http://www.guitarcenter.com/iKEY-ICONNEX-DJ-Phono-USB-Interface-482898-i1424835.gc
Also why can't I use a USB headset for pre cueing

Sorry if Im not getting what you're trying to tell I just started DJing like 7 months ago.

you "should" not use hat kind of stuff because it's not meant for "semi pro/pro/heavy addicted hobbyist" DJ use.... those headphones are actually a small audio interface on tehir own... and as you may have noticed, Traktor only deals with One interface at a time. Second sound card involves mixed up latency, use of a generic driver to aggregate devices and globally poor quality. you should definitely invest in a small 2x stero out sound card as described by Karlos

    Yes.

Unless the USB MIDI controller you're planning to use already has a built-in sound card. (IE a MIDI controller that already has audio out, such as the Hercules DJ Console Mk2 or the Behringer BCD 3000.)

Well I need it cause I'm using the Numark Mixtrack which doesn't have a built in sound card. My other deck is the Vestex Spin which does.
