    OK, Ladies and Gents.
    It begins.

What is "it"? Glad you asked.
"It" is an effort to get the Reaktor community to explore some of the most beloved ensembles and share their creations with the rest of the class.

    We are making presets people!

This is a great opportunity for those of us who feel guilty about not contributing ensembles, or just don't have the know-how, to give back. Imagine if we all gave a few presets, we are talking banks of new presets. Who knows, you might even rediscover a synth or two.

So this is kinda how we are gonna try and do this. (this is very much open to suggestions)
-Each week we pick an ensemble.
-We make as many presets as we can.
    -Send them to me. ( newgreyarea@gmail.com )
-I make up the banks, and upload them to the user library.
-We then bask in our glory.

How will we pick the ensemble? I don't know. Through a voting/suggestion thread in the forums?

Since It's been suggested that I take control of this, I think we will start with

    JWH's 3X 1.6

It's #1 in the user library's top 100. So everyone should have at least one patch to share.

    The rules:
    1. Include your name or initials in the the title of your presets, or don't, your choice really.
    2. Categorize your presets appropriately.
They should look something like this.

    [lead]
    [pad]
    [bass]
    [seq]
    [fx]
    [key]

    example:
    01.[pad] MayTricks Ate MW (popsicko)
    02.[lead] Dental Drive (buttersMcgoofystein)

It is not my job to judge these, it's not a contest, yet we all win if you think about it.
So if you submit a preset, we will include it.
I'll try and categorize the presets, and save them into banks if I have time, and there are enough entries to justify such things. ie. Bass bank1, Bass bank2, Lead bank1, FX bank, etc.

    Let's get to work.
    Brad

Oh, It starts today, Sunday, and the next ensemble will be picked next sunday.

Oh, I forgot to mention. If you already have some presets to share, you don't have to wait until sunday to send them, go ahead and do it now.

    Thanks

    Next Synths

I'd like to suggest that we build snaps for some of the synths that shipped with Reaktor.

What does the [key] identifier represent?

Can we add [perc] (percussion) to the list?

    Brad, perfect introduction text !

Concerning the patches, do we can send the patches directly to you, or do we attach them with answers at this post ?

->Lowkus: [key] for keyboards, all kind of sounds relative to keyb, like pianos, electric pianos...

Eeeek! How could I forget percussion?

Ok, add [perc] to the list.

Also, since thiswhole thing sprouted from Zikou's original post, I think he should have a say in what we do next. Nanowave? Kaleidon?

Anyhow, we hae a week to decide.
Let us focus on 3X v1.6.

    I've already made a few.

Can we attach them to the forum?
It might be easier to just send them to my GMail account. newgreyarea@gmail.com

Thanks again, and spread the word!

    Great idea.

I think this will also really help me to get round to learning what some of the user library is capable of.

NI should be giving you some money. Or at least a discount of something.

Very good work. Hope it all goes well.

I'll have a play with 3X once I finish my current tune.

While on the subject of learning how to use synths, are there any manuals of guides for some of the more complicated reaktor ensembles?

    Cheers
    R'sala

Does anybody fancy writing short guides to some of the more compex ensembles. a lot of them have ltos of buttons and knobs with strange titles that don't mean a lot.

Some sort text files explaining an emsemble would be really useful to help people get to grips withs them quicker.

    Brad,

Just to let you know, I've been working on my first snaps for 3X tonight. I'll probably work on some more in the coming days. I've found that making snaps is a great way to get to know an ensemble, that's for sure.

I vote for Nanowave next week too. That's a fascinating synth with a lot of potential just waiting to be used!

Good luck everyone with your snaps!

I've already started receiving some presets. Keep 'em coming! Lets at least fill up a bank.

Just checked out Nanowave...and I'm underwhelmed; didn't hear anything inspiring in the included snaps. Kaleidon looks pretty meaty, tho, and it would sure be nice to have a lot of new snaps to help explore it with!

Let's do that first, before we run out of steam...

One of the reasons to do Nanowave is BECAUSE the patches are so weak. It has potential, we just have to tap it.

Ah, but we all have different tastes! I'll tap into my tastes, and you tap into yours, and somewhere in between we'll meet :)

    Ten down!

Well, I made my first ten presets. Yay! Hope to make some more later. Keep 'em coming guys, and remember to use our cool naming scheme!
    Ex:
    01.(LEAD) Spiffy (popsicko)
    02.(BASS) Phat Phuq (Notorious BIG)
03.(PAD) Maxi Tap On (OB in Disquise)

I've onlty had one bank come that was not named right. I can change it if necessary, but it's very time consuming.
You guys have given up some great patches so far.

Oh, and enough of this "lose steam" business!
It's up to us to get this going, you either want to do it or you don't. We should nuture this so it grow big and strong like the rest of the user library. Maybe people like JWH, Clist, and some of the other builders will start tapping some of us to make presets for their ensembles beefore releasing them. Then we could have full banks from the get go!

Go R4 Snapshots Creation Force! (like the power rangers, only cooler)

    Send them newgreyarea@gmail.com

    Thanks,
    Brad

The snap type goes into brackets, rather than parenthesis, right?

So it would look like this...

    [PERC] Sample Name (Whoever)

    Instead of this...

    (PERC) Sample Name (Whoever)

Not too concerned with the brackets versus parenthesis, as much as weird names for catergories. I'd give an example but I don't want anyone to think I'm picking on them, after all, at they contributed to this.
