Can you assign the preset keys on B4 II?

Like when you right click and press learn, is there a way you can do this with the preset keys?

    Thanks!

    Hi lukehigs,

Are we the last 2 people on earth using B4 II ?
I have a Peavey PC 1600x midi controller. It has 16 faders & buttons. I have 9 of the faders assigned to drawbars & 9 of the buttons assigned to address my own patch changes. The other Faders & buttons are assigned to other functions in B4 II. It has 50 (I think) program slots (or individual patches) so you could have several nameable patches for B4 II and also control other midi controllable devices, both hardware & software, with the other slots.
You could probably find one on ebay for $150.00 or less. It's a great unit.

Now, going back to your original question, I've wondered how to do that, too.
I have a 76 note keyboard & would like assign the lower keys on it to the preset keys on B4 II. I haven't been able to figure it out. I also googled it with no luck.
If I find out how to do it, I'll be sure to let you know. If you figure it out, please do the same.

    Good luck,
    jimi

    Hi Jimi,

I use an axiom 61 at the moment which works ok, it has 9 faders, rotary knobs and buttons. I'm looking to upgrade to a 2 keyboard setup soon.

As for the preset keys I still can't find anything, on other software like VB-3 it seems standard that the lower preset keys are automatically mapped to the actual keyboard.

It's a shame they don't update B4 II anymore, I'm sure there must still be a few people who use it. I really don't rate the new sample based vintage organs that much, it's good but B4 is legendary!

I'll give you a shout if I find anything out but if you really want this feature you should check out VB-3 if you haven't already.

B4IIis the baddest on the planet! VO doesn't compare at all. I almost bought the '57 Drawbar instrument but, it disappeared when K7 came along.
You can use your lower keyboard. Just change the MIDI channel to match the setting in the B4 setup page.
It works. As far as the presets, I think they are representations of what Hammond did on their production units. They were "programmable" if you had a screwdriver and a ton of time. :)

    Hi bigdaddywagon,

I think you misunderstood. We're talking about the reverse color keys, which are the preset keys. We'd like to be able to engage those by hitting keys on our controller keyboard. I use 2 keyboards (stacked) to control B4 II. The lower has 76 keys, so it'd be really convenient to change presets with the lowest keys on that keyboard.

Back in the day, when I still had my Hammond & Leslie, I did the "screwdriver" programming.

I have not tried to program these in B4II but, I do know that Vintage Organs does allow the reverse keys to be programmed. I will play around tonight and see if B4 will allow it. Someone else could chime in if they would like. :)

I HAVE FOUND OUT HOW WE CAN DO THIS IN B4 II

It's an extra program called B4 controller, here is the website:

    B4 Controller

Unfortunately it's not free but its pretty cheap, apparently they never added this support into the original program.

    Good for you !

Thanks for the link, but I'm a "mac guy", so I guess I'll just continue using the Peavey unit to access my patches. It's at least good to know that the feature isn't part of the program & that we're not overlooking something obvious.

Another thing that you could do, is to assign your favorite patches to some of the buttons of your axiom (unless you already have them all assigned to other duties.

    Best of Luck
