Purchased Komplete 12 collectors upgrade 3 months ago and now NI want another 450 quid to upgrade to 13. If I'd waited it would only have cost 500 quid. Not impressed.

Not impressed? It's been a good few months, what could they have done differently?

Nobody is forcing you to upgrade.
Skip one and upgrade to K14 next year.

I think K14 is the best option. Would be good if Just GR pro 6 could be upgraded.

Good few months ??? 2 1/2 to be precise so not anywhere near a few. NI should stop upgrades at least 6 months before a new release when you are talking hundreds of pounds

I upgraded to K12UCE last year and I'm not impressed. I will likely wait 'til next year.

6 months is a bit ridiculous. Even if they did that, I'm sure people would get upset about having bought the upgrade before that 6 month mark. The company offers a product, you purchased it. Nobody forced you to upgrade. What is it with a chunk of NI's userbase expecting the company to do exactly what they want? You bought the upgrade months ago, what do you want them to do for a product that you bought that long ago? Hell, if I recall correctly K12 was announced the first week of September 2018, so pretty consistent.

    Oh, and:

NI doesn't force anyone to upgrade, nor do they promise to support the software you buy from them. They will at some point just drop support for their software. Or completely kill off a great product like Kore .. Point being, you're just a customer.. If you're unhappy, talk with your wallet.. Alot of us are now a days..

It gets worse... they are now offering the K12UCE Update for £250 with a FREE upgrade to K13UCE. I bought my update a couple of months ago so this is poor from NI.

I too am not feeling the love about upgrading 12 Collector's edition for $649 CAD. How many Violin plugins do you need. And furthermore, N.I. seemingly puts so little effort into improving Komplete Kontrol that it leaves a bad taste. It seems like every other post is someone remarking about NI having terrible customer service as well. But they want to get into my wallet for 700 buck a years just for the Komplete upgrade. It isn't about just that for me.

Does anyone have a side by side comparson of Komplete 12 like the attached below. I want to compare it with what is being offered in Komplete 13 to see if it's worth it. Screen Shot 2020-09-15 at 11.03.40 PM.png Screen Shot 2020-09-15 at 11.03.40 PM.png

It seems like this one is more for Guitar players (which I play a little), that said they have seemed to release a ton of sample libraries since v12.

On the What's new for me page if you own KOMPLETE 12 ULTIMATE Collector's Edition the following expansions are listed as a new addition for KOMPLETE 13 ULTIMATE Collector's Edition although those expansions are already part of KOMPLETE 12 ULTIMATE Collector's Edition :
    CARBON DECAY
    GLOBAL SHAKE
    LILAC GLARE
    NOCTURNAL STATE
    PRISMATIC BLISS
    RISING CRESCENT
    SOLAR BREEZE
    STADIUM FLEX

Unlike the following expansions which aren't part of neither KOMPLETE 12 ULTIMATE Collector's Edition and neither KOMPLETE 13 ULTIMATE Collector's Edition :
    BLACK ARC
    CRYSTAL DAGGERS
    DARK PRESSURE
    ELECTRIC VICE
    HELIOS RAY
    PARADISE RINSE
    PROSPECT HAZE
    RADIANT HORIZON
    RESONANT BLAZE

Pfff, been a while since I've posted here; I just discovered the new version(s) somewhat by accident and to be honest I'm a bit hyped. I can definitely see why some may not be impressed here (each to their own as the saying goes) but solely looking from a content perspective while trying to keep my bias in check I think we're definitely getting our moneys worth with the update. Of course I'm not implying that it'll be worth it for you as well because you (yes, you, random reader) will be the only one who can make that decision, but solely looking at contents?

Straylight has been a big favorite of me for quite a while and even though I've considered the new Pharlight & Mysteria variants I didn't really see the added value for my setup. I'm still not fully sure, but there's no denying that these instruments have some serious potential for sound design & experimentation.

Guitar Rig 6 can also be a big deal here, and not just for guitar players. I've been using GR5 as a massive effects rack for quite some time now and it can definitely add some interesting effects to your material.

Well, I already own session guitarist electric sunburst deluxe but even so... it's still a very solid expansion for Komplete. Sure, this one will mostly appeal to fans or users of guitars but.. it's really special in its own way and if you never worked with it... then you might end up surprised. Or so I think, I can't rule out personal bias here because, as mentioned, I already bought this quite some time ago and I still think it's a very exciting instrument.

And then of course there's this: Arkhis... I have to be honest: I am a sucker for orchestral setups so this obviously hit a soft spot. But bias or not, I still think it's fair to say that this also adds something quite useful and worthwhile to the new setup.

Last but not least.. If you didn't pick up Raum during last years Holiday season then this could also be a good chance to catch up. It truly is a very interesting and specific audio effect. Been using it for a few months myself in both Maschine & Live and... it's special.

Sure, once again, I'm not claiming that this means that a Komplete 13 upgrade will be worth it for everyone. Nah, impossible, I can well imagine that some may prefer waiting it out to see what goodies we'll get when 14 gets released (not to mention that some might consider 13 to be a bad luck number as well ;)). But having said that I still believe that this is a very interesting release which can definitely be worth it.

The only problem now is that I'll have to wait a whole week before I can play with my new toys o_O
