    Hey guys -

After I drag & drop my maschine sequence into logic, I like to clean it up a bit (velocity adjustments, quantization, etc) in piano roll view of Logic. Once I have my sequence in Logic, I select an empty pattern in Maschine so that the midi data isn't triggered twice.

If I want to edit or build upon the sequence in Logic (add a hi hat for instance), I press record on Maschine and program in the hats. The problem is when I hit record in Maschine, it also re-records the midi notes from Logic back into my Maschine sequencer.

Does anyone know how I can record stuff in Maschine without it re-recording the pattern already in Logic. I guess it would involve having Logic midi triggering the Maschine notes without any recording input.

    Please help!

    Thanks.

Anyone have an answer? Let me know if the question is clear. I'm just trying to layer my new takes without having to re-drag & drop everything and then re-edit my changes I make in Logic.

    Thanks

an interesting problem and maybe a question for next Maschine on Record?

no i don't have the answer if you keep the over drubs on the same MIDI Channel. personally, i would do my editing in Maschine and then record the new layers in Maschine, and then Drag n Drop to Logic.

maybe the answer is to have the new parts in new Groups triggered by different MIDI Channels?

another answer is to record the overdubs in Logic and not Maschine. not sure why you want to reord those in Maschine when you want to edit in Logic

Thanks for getting back to me. I would want to record the overdubs in Maschine as opposed to Logic simply because if I'm recording hi hats for instance, I prefer the results using the Maschine controller and software interface as opposed to a keyboard or Logic piano roll. I then like to edit in Logic after the fact just to make last minute tweaks.

I guess I was just hoping I was missing something or there was a simple adjustment I could make in Logic/Maschine that would allow me to overdub without recording back in Maschine, but if not then I'll just work with your alternatives.

    Thx.

if you press Control + Shift - putting the Controller into MIDI Mode - you can use the Maschine Controller to record into Logic.

i also suggest you try editing a bit more whilst the Patterns are in the Maschine Software. i actually prefer it to editing in Logic.

so if you hit shift control the kit/selected pad sounds stay loded and you can record straight into logic? does this need the setup (sounds to midi notes/channels within machine?

yes, if you are using a kit spread over up to 16 Pads.

if you have loaded just a Synth sound on the first Pad, it should work without having to set anything up.
