I have Snow Leopard on my computer and will not be able to upgrade any time in the near future- therefore I decided to buy Komplete 8. Unfortunately, because I can't (as far as I know) get it from the NI website, I've had to look for a "used" copy from a third party. I found an excellent deal on ebay and purchased it without first considering the potential licensing and activation issues. It should arrive in a few days.

In the meantime, I've contacted the seller and asked whether or not the software is currently activated, and here's where my dilemma begins. Apparently, the seller I bought from is NOT the original user, and has in fact never attempted to register or use it. The original user is DEAD, and my seller bought Komplete 8 at the estate sale. Therefore, my seller won't be able to help in deactivating the original license (if it's still active).

So what can I do? Does the license expire upon the original user's death? Is this something NI support would be able to help me with? My purchase included the original packaging, so I WILL get the serial number. I really wish NI just offered older versions of Komplete on their site....

Or- is there any way for me or the seller to verify whether the serial number is active?
