    Hello again,

Something strange is happening, when I insert a 'TDM plugin' version of Pro52 onto the insert of a stereo aux track in protools, the 'directconnect' plugin pops up on a free dsp, taking up 6 percent of a chip.

Is this right? or do I have the wrong plugin in my DAE folder?

I did have a directconnect Pro 52 demo on my machine at one time, but I don't hink it's there now.

    Please advise,

    Simon,

    Hello,

the item in the Plug-In list which is the HTDM Plug has the name

"NI Pro-52" (please notice the "NI")

It should be there if you have properly installed the Studio Collection.
    You
may reinstall it from CD if it is not. Choose the "easy install" option.

If you choose in the list of Plug-Ins the "Pro-52" you will get the Direct
    Connect Plug-In.

I would recommend to take out the DirectConnect Plug-in from the DAE
Plug-Ins folder, which is called "Pro-52 DirectConnect".

    Best Regards

    Hi again Stephen,

OK, I've been all through this again. I have no Pro 52 directconnect plugins in my DAE folder. I reinstalled the Protools edition from my CD.

However, as soon as I put a Pro 52 plugin on a stereo aux track, Directconnect takes a DSP.

    Is this correct?

    Thanks,

    Simon.

I've noticed this too - Likewise, I do not have any Direct Connect instruments (except Soft Sample Cell).

My guess (and it's only that) is that perhaps HTDM uses Direct Connect 'invisibly' (i.e. although you don't actually need to instanciate the DC plug-in for HTDM, the same technnology is applied to enable the plug-instrument to go through the PT mixer?)

BTW Silverbirches - can I ask whether you had any problems with authorising B4 on your Studio Edition (you've probably read my post - I'm having no joy resolving the missing file issue at the moment!)

    cheers

    Hello,

I haven"t been in the office for some weeks..... back again.....

The HTDM interface consists in a few parts of Directconnect technology.
Thats why a chip displays a "Directconnect" task. With DirectConnect
5.1.1cs10 this chip can also handle regular DirectConnect tasks at the same
time together with HTDM, so only one SRAM chip will be occupied.

It has changed with DAE 5.3, where you will find "StreamManager" displayed.

    Best Regards
