    Hello,

Now that NI have announced that Spektral Delay and Vokator are discontinued even though they have been updated to UB, I'm wondering if we will see a Pro-54 version or another discontinued product. Kontakt is way more alive... v3 now... and Pro-53 is still Pro-53.x since a long long time !

I wish NI would make the same overhaul for the Pro-53 as they did for FM7 -> FM8 : new (and larger) GUI, new exclusive features (I mean, beyond the Prophet 5 emulation). It would be great, modern, and different from Arturia's Prophet-V.

Any opinions ? Any clues from users or NI staff ?

    Pro-54! I totally agree

I love the Pro-53, but it could be improved further.
Maybe people would rather use more complex, complicated synth like Absynth and Reaktor, but the Pro-53 is so perfect and easy for many sounds. And it isn't a CPU hog.
    Still, it could be better.

I like being able to stack voices with unison, but it is always monophonic. I wish I could choose the number of unison voices but also the polyphony.

I wish there was a display that showed the current parameter. Sometimes I have trouble tweaking the frequency to the right note. On the PC some hosts allow a parameter view, but I haven't seen that on the Mac. Most modern soft synths show the value of the knob you are tweaking in a floating window or in place of the current program number or something.

I hope they keep updating it. I've seen other Prophet emulators, even in Reaktor, but I don't use that one because patch handling is horrible, it is a CPU hog, and it doesn't look as nice.

Being able to set the pitch bend range would be really good as well.

Indeed... And so much. More modulations for example.
Actually, a lot of improvements can be done if NI thinks large, beyond the concept of emulation. They bring the core of the Prophet-5 and they put some NI touch to make it a modern synth with an heritage. Again, they did it very well with FM8. My point is that the merge of yesterday, today and tomorrow can be wonderful and powerful. In the software area, the only limits are imagination, skill, and CPU cycles.

PLease NI, don't let away this potential and surprise us with a brand new Pro-54. It would perfectly complete the line-up.

I think it'd be a real shame if NI were to discontinue this synth but i woudn't want them to make any radical changes as it is an emulation so i feel it should remain true to the original. On the other hand it shouldn't really have a high pass filter but i'm glad it does and i'd love to see a band pass filter and a three band EQ on it but you could just keep going and completely lose the charm of it's simplicity.
Modern synths, like Massive, are wonderful tools to work with because the possibilities just seem endless but writing a patch can be very time consuming because of the great depth you can go into.
Sure, Pro-53 is very hard-wired and there are only two oscillators (one if you want a second LFO) but that doesn't prevent it from creating amazing sounds and, because you're not bogged down by possibilities, new sounds can be realised extremely quickly.
I love this synth, it's very much my main synth and i've written a huge amount of sounds for it, yet i'm still getting new textures out of it all the time. I don't really think it's in need of new "synthesis" features but i wouldn't be against the pitch bend range thing and an EQ...stuff like that, they definitely shouldn't kill it off though.

I'd be fine if they add OSC and filter sets that represent the entire Prophet line (3.2, 3.3 and T-8) and a few T-8 features. Maybe add a Vector Synthesis Interface/Mode. And then there's the new Prophet 08 adn Evolvers that could be emulated.

A vibrato option, a quick chorus, and a few other limited effects would be nice.

The interface should be updated to the newer Kore standards and more programs could be shipped.

It is long in the tooth but they could ride this pony for years if they really commit to making it a 'Prophet' emulator and go beyond (yet retain) the classic '5' interface.

    +1

...I would really love to see a next version of the Pro-53. It was my first synth and I still love it very much. I don't think it'll be discontinued - seeing that it has been included in both the Komplete Synth AND Komplete Classics bundle gives me high hopes for a future update (I still may be wrong, though - we'll see at the Musikmesse, I think).

I would love to see a similar update like the FM8 - an FX rack (with the Pro-54 filter also included there), an arpeggiator and four layers of the synth (with an option for each layer to be routed into the FX rack or not). I would keep the synthesis section as simple as it is now - only improvements on the sound of the oscillators and the oversampling options that Massive uses.
Finally, I would add a second filter (with serial/parallel routing) with an additional bandpass setting.
Sounds pretty much like an update to me and seems to be doable as we've seen it with the FM7/FM8.

NI - you can hire me to design basses and pads - you others, enjoy my Pro-53 patches... :D

Yep, - user-setting of PB range was/is a must since day one and for the next update !
Keep this synth alive please !

Improvements could be Oberheim SEM like filters and the ability to control the frequency/pitch sweep of one OSC in sync mode by a midi CC#4 continuous controller w/ an on/off switch for this mod.-source/dest. in the poly mod control panel as well as an "amount" control for this.

A flanger would be nice in addition to the delay fx too.

Dudes, you can use the delay FX to get both the chorus and flanger with a little bit of tweaking :D

But yeah, the pitch bend range really gives me creeps. To be able to set it in the 2-12 range would be rather awesome!

    Hi !

A flanger should be the 1st effect (eventually after a distortion) in a FX chain w/ the Pro5x. There´s already a delay based effect in the Pro53 which, modulated by an LFO and w/ a feedback circuitry, would be a pretty good flanger.
A 3rd party effect would be the delay itself then in an insert of the host or as a global send effect.
The internal delay based effect of the Pro5x being switchable between flanger / chorus and delay by a toggle-switch and/or midi can´t be a prob IMO.
The 2 semi-step PB range in Pro52/53 since years is annoying!
There´s a lot of musical expressiveness missing because of that, especially for real players !

...I think everyone knows that. It's more about having an entire FX rack...

Can't all of the Pro-53 sounds be reproduced in Reaktor synths? What would really be the use of a Pro-54?

...hm, I think, Guitar Rig and Massive have also been developed using Reaktor models - why have they been released as plug-ins, hmmm...

(no, they are not Reaktor version wrapped in a plug-in)

...is everybody using Reaktor? How much CPU-intensive would a Reaktor version be instead of a hard-coded version? Are there people who like this plug-in and would love to see it being developed further? Maybe these help to answer your question... :D ;)

I think Pro-54 is a dead cert as it would have been dropped with K4 if it was a goner.......also there have been 3 different versions and I think Michael Kurz does all the old vintage stuff - he has already done B4 II and I think? would move on tp something else.....My prediction is that Pro-54 will p**s over the Arturia - and maybe equal the Creamware Prophet 5 emulation which is the best...........Pro 54 wil prob have VS capability

Let's hope so. The Kore 2 release is quick to point out that it is based on the integrated engines of Absynth, FM8, Guitar Rig, Kontakt, Massive, and Reaktor.

There's an ugly, red-headed step child missing in that list.....

Glad to see I'm not the only one loving yet feeling the lack of some features on the Pro-53. The lack of selectable pitch bend range is simply killing me! An arpeggiator would be nice too, as well as being able to play polyphonically in unison mode. If it has 32 voices, why can't we stack 4 of them and still have 8 notes of polyphony etc.?

I own Massive as well, and while it is an amazing tool, I love the simplicity of the Pro-53. Keep it simple, but add some basics and this would be something to write home about.

    If NI would overhaul Pro-53 -> Pro-54 the way they did FM7 -> FM8, they'd have a winner.

Putting on my product design hat:

Introducing "Probe80" the new N.I. VST which takes a fresh look at the great analog polysynths of the past and adds a whole new twist. Probe8 is Pro54, only so much more ...

3 alias-free oscilators per voice ... each selectable to carefully emulated oscilator types from the Prophet5, OB-X, Jupiter8 and CS80, plus new exciting digital waveforms.

Dual filter sections - carefully emulated models of the filter found on the above classic synthesizers. Run them in series or in parallel, with extensive routing options for the oscillator section waveforms.

Envelope types designed to duplicate the response of the above classics.

A complete multi-effects section with delay, reverb, chorus, flanger & EQ

Sounds like Massive...too bad it causes Live to glitch out every time I use it. It's been basically useless to me.
