    Hello,

I am trying to connect my maschine to pro tools 8 using an AVID Mbox gen 3. Every time I open both Pro Tools and Maschine, I cannot get sound from my Maschine. How do I make this work?

create an Instrument track in Pro Tools and choose Maschine. it is the same as loading any other RTAS plugin including Pro Tools plugins.

by following the instructions in the Video.

Maschine is being used as an RTAS Plugin in Pro Tools.

what bits do you not understand?

have you installed the 1.5.1 Update?

I do not know how to setup Pro Tools to see Maschine as a plug-in. My plug in section is not even highlighted for me to select it as an option...
    ---
I got the two to communicate. Thank you for trying to help. I can also drag and drop. woo-hoo. Took me all day but I am getting it. I am a complete noob to Pro Tools and am learning as fast as I can.

    Thanks again

okay, i suggest you try to learn how to create and Instrument Track and load an RTAS INstrument - including the ones that come with Pro Tools. there are loads of Pro Tools videos on Youtube to help you learn Pro Tools - and also the Pro Tools Manual.

i won't have time to give you any screen shot instructions for a couple of days.

but yes, you really need to learn how to insert an INstrument Channel and the load an Instrument RTAS Plugin.

and you are of course reading the Maschine Getting Starten Manual ;)

For others seraching, this video will show you how to load Maschine as a plug-in on Pro Tools 8.

Also with an Mbox 3, you may need to use the shared driver instead of ASIO when using Pro Tools and Maschine at the same time. If you open Maschine as an instrument in Pro Tools, you can leave the sound card setting to ASIO.

this video shows how to route MIDI to - on MIDI tracks - to a Multi-Timbrel Plugin on an AUX Track,

it also shows how to insert a plugin on an Instrument Track.

both of these methods can be used for Maschine, and any other NI plugin that can be used as a Multi-Timbrel Instrument.
