Thats not the problem. Do you have Maschine selected under setup>Midi>input devices... Also, you need to have Maschine open on a track...

    pro tools maschine HTC troubleshooting

another thing you should check out... Try this : open the controller editor application. on the right side you have all the options and preferences about how to deal with midi and your maschine controller: it is called inspector. there go to templates, down the menue make sure MIDI PORT is set to INTERNAL and underneath the box for HOST TRANSPORT CONTROL is TICKED. let us know if it is working now. :)
    ---
I would like to add that maschine host transport control is working just as fine under pro tools even if maschine is used inside vienna ensemble pro as a vst plugin and connected to pro tools as "the pizza
dude" pointed out earlier in this thread. doing so significantly reduces cpu power on your mac and inside pro tools. On my mac pro 2,1 -8core - 2,66ghz maschine as RTAS uses about 30% up to 50% cpu power. If you use VE pro as a RTAS plugin and open maschine there as VST cpu power decreases down to 3-5%. And HTC is working here too! @sowari: as you seem to be in charge here: get in touch with native instruments and make sure they send a free maschine mk2 controller to "the pizza dude"... his work is of high value to all pro tools users! @the pizza dude: again thanks so much for developing this! :D

Maschine does not show up here.
I only see my Axiom keyboard and my interface (Komplete Audio 6).

My Maschine is connected to my USB hub which is connected to my Macbook.
    ---
hmm.. seems to be working now.
no idea what I had wrong or what I did but it works now.
    thanks! this is fantastic.

For anyone who wants to change the response of the fast foward and rewind buttons, here is how you do it.

Go into Controller Editor. Under the template that I made for HTC in pro tools, on the right hand side in the "inspector" area of Controller Editor, select the Assign section. Click on the fast foward button (>). Look where it says Mode, this is set to "toggle", change this to "Gate". Click on the Rewind button(<), and do the same, change the Mode to "Gate".

Close Controller Editor. Your changes will be saved when you close.

Your fast foward and rewind controls will jump by 1 bar at a time.:)

@The Pizza Dude thanx much man. The template is great, definitely improved my workflow when using Maschine as a plug-in in Pro Tools 8 LE.

I've tried this as well and was unable to make it work. It's quite frustrating as i like to arrange in pro tools and it would be nice to be able to use the maschine transport. I keep getting a messagge saying pro tools is unable to communicate with m-audio keyboard and to power cyle it. anyone else seen this?

Im on a mac pro 1.1
    osx 10.6.8
    maschine mk2
    software version 1.8.1
    pro tools 9

@middleofnowhere, I'll try and help. Please list everything that you did in sequence and the file names that were used.

    @curly430, your welcome. Enjoy:)

I actually figured it out. I kept getting that error message until I selected the maschine virtual input under midi device and as well for the input and output.

Thanks though. The simplest things are so frustrating sometimes.

Perhaps this is a basic question, but is there any way to use the Play button on the Maschine hardware to control playback in Pro Tools while the hardware is in Control Mode (as opposed to MIDI mode)?

The contributions in this thread are excellent, but seem to apply to using the Maschine hardware in MIDI mode.

When in Control mode, I can only get Pro Tools (and hence Maschine loaded as an instrument within Pro Tools) to start playback by pressing Play in Pro Tools. Pressing Play on the Maschine hardware does nothing.

Is it possible to do what I am describing, or is it the case that, because Maschine is slaved to Pro Tools, the only way to play is from Pro Tools?

No, the host transport control functionality the OP refers to allows you to control your DAW from control mode.

I still cannot control the Pro Tools transport from the hardware in control mode.

I have followed the steps in this thread and I can get get the transport in Pro Tools to respond, but, only when my Maschine controller is in MIDI mode. Of course, in MIDI mode, I cannot control the Maschine software. For example, I cannot use the browser to select a sound nor can I change groups; changes in the software are not reflected on the controller.

In Control mode, the hardware operates the Maschine software as expected (I can use the browser to select a sound, I can change groups, and changes in the software are reflected on the controller) but the Play button does nothing.

    What am I doing wrong?

    I finally have it working!

I did have Host Transport Control checked the whole time.

I tried deleting the Pro Tools HTC Maschine.ncc I downloaded from the first page of this thread and went with New Template and configured it as per the first post in this thread.

Also, along the way, it occurred to me that I have an Avid/Euphonix Artist Control and that maybe that was causing some sort of conflict. I temporarily unchecked Peripherals>Ethernet Controllers>Enable Eucon in Pro Tools. I have it re-enabled now and Maschine and the Artist Control seem to be happily coexisting and both control the transport in Pro Tools.

With both of those changes, it started working. I do not know which one did the trick: New Template or temporarily disabling Eucon. (I know, I violated the first rule of troubleshooting which is to only change one thing at a time!) But the bottom line is it is now working.

Thanks to all who contributed in this thread, especially lethal_pizzle and The Pizza Dude! :)

I would like to videos of people using Maschine in Pro Tools live while recording loops, etc. I usually just do most of my work on Maschine and drag over to Pro Tools. That takes time of course.

    Finally working!

To anyone still having problems getting it to work, from one previously frustrated user to another, I hope this helps.

At first the play and record buttons were working but the stop, rewind, and fast forward were not.

First things first: I'm assuming you have already download one of the Pro Tools templates for maschine that's floating out there but if not: http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177749. You can download it from there.

The next thing I did was change the transport control buttons in the NI controller editor. By default in the assign tab, they're on "toggle" but I had to change them all to "gate" for it to work. I got that gate tip for the rewind/ff from someone on this forum.

Then in Pro Tools, go to setup>midi>input devices and check machine virtual input.

Then go to setup>peripheals and select m-audio controller in the first box and maschine virtual input and virtual outpot in the next 2 boxes respectively.

For me, that was it. Things are finally working and I can be creative now! :D

Hey just downloaded this and it is not working. I have the peripherals all set up, the controller editor file is up, host transport control is on. One weird thing is that maschine virtual input wont pop up in the dialog under predefined. but there is a maschine virtual output.

Any solutions, I get a dialog after a bunch failed attempts at pressing play on my maschine saying something about power cycles and the m-audio keyboard refresh rate or something. How do I get this working get and get maschine virtual input? on Newest Controller editor 1.6
