Problem loading sounds in 1.7.1, 1.7.2 (bank/type/subtype reset)

The problem is that when I am selecting a Sound in Browse mode on the controller, I normally first dial in Type and Subtype and then go through a group of available Sounds to pick the most suitable one.

Now, if I first Load a Sound and then press the pad to play back the loaded sound, all the filters (Bank, Type, Subtype) are reset to their default value of '-', which makes it impossible to use Next and Prev controls to browse within the originally selected subset of sounds.

I've been having this problem with both 1.7.1 and 1.7.2 on both Mac and PC.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
1) Create a new project
2) Enable Browse mode on the controller (assuming that Group A Pad 1 is active, but doesn't matter)
3) Select Sound tab, Filter: Sound, Type: Brass
The list should be something like Alto Sax, Bari Sax, Brass Stab etc
4) Load the selected sound using the 'Load' button
5) Press the active pad to play the sound

Now all Filter values are reset to '-' and you're back in the global instruments pool instead of the Brass corner, so you can't use Next and Prev to cycle through Brass instruments.

This really drives me up the wall cause it makes it damn near impossible to pick the right instrument among a few similar ones. I'm now considering a downgrade to 1.6

 

So has anyone else experienced this issue?

Basically, I would like to hear both types of responses whether it affects your installation or not. So guys can your test this on your Maschines, it's about five seconds or so...

Yep, same for me. Just after i experienced this problem, i went on the forum with a search using keywords summarising the problem...
and boom, i stumble on your post.

This is really annoying. Could this behaviour be changed as a preference? Maybe some people like this behaviour and requested that.
If this is something they added for 1.7.2 , then you should be able to change it to get back to how maschine used to work.


Otherwise it is a bug. I'll check and get back to you if i find a solution. Please , keep me updated if you solve this thing before i do.

Definitely not a preference!
I have checked the manual thoroughly for clues and checked the preferences and this is certainly not the intended behaviour or an option that you can deactivate.

I'm pretty sure it is a bug by now.

I'll ask for a support ticket as this smells like a bug. But a weird one, because it probably doesn't happen to everyone, otherwise there would be posts all over the forum mentionning this problem.

I'll keep you updated.

 

Ok, i send a detailed description to NI support and received a support ticket.

I'll just wait and see as i prefer not to downgrade.

 

had the same issue

I experienced the same ting occasionally until I reinstalled everything - I actually reinstalled maschine, komplete el and reaktor (wich is my ni setup). It fixed several bugs (except the one I just posted in another thread)....

 

This is a known bug. The quick browse feature does not work properly when the sound filter is used in the browser. A workaround for now is to use keyboard mode when you need to browse for sounds. Samples, groups etc. work properly though.

 

Ok, it's good to know that I'm not the only one faced with this issue and that there's a support ticked filed.

lucaluca, could you please keep us updated on the status of the support ticket?

I'm not really in the mood of reinstalling anything, since I will most likely lose my whole database including imported samples and projects (not the physical files, but all the inner filings - categories, groups, tags etc). I'm SO looking forward to this being fixed soon.

a support ticket. Since you already made a detailed description,
you can almost copy-paste it. That will encourage NI to solve this issue.

Here is what NI support had to say about this issue :

"This is a known issue (bug nr: MAS-7402) and I can reproduce it. The development
department is informed about it and is working to find a solution to fix it for a
future update. Until then, we kindly ask for your patience and thank you for your
undertanding."

 

i Also Have the same issues with the True School kits..
i've escalated a ticket and nothing.

and my machine still crashes when loading more sounds or samples?
would you perform machine in live performace>?

 

I joined the forum to post this very question. NI said they were working on a fix in January -- is it ever actually going to happen? This is an infuriating glitch.

 

I am wondering if this is my issue as well. I remember once a while ago being able to create a group, let's say a drum kit, and if I hit a pad in Browse mode I get for example all kick sounds, all snares, etc. showing up in the right hand screen menu. This was a big feature of Maschine's ease of use, the ability to change a sample or whatever on the fly (see #4 NI Maschine video on Youtube as a demo of the feature). But it no longer works.

As it stands now I load a kit and then go to Sound and Browse and hit a pad and all I get is a list of all samples with no filters whatsoever. As the feature was one of the big selling points of Maschine I don't see why if it is buggy why it hasn't been fixed yet.
