You know something just to let you guys know that I have seen a lot of topics(not just only on this forum, on other forums as well) about kontakt making dropouts/cracles sounds in Logic. A few solutions would be to raise your buffer to 512 or use a different sequencer. I dont know what it is with Native Instruments but I haven't seen too much(If any at all) replies from N.I. about issues with kontakt and logic. My guess is that they(N.I. Staff) probably are too embarrassed/scared to answer because they haven't found a solution. I notice that the N.I. staff only answer simple questions but when it comes to stuff like this they never answer the complex questions. So in other words they chose to answer whatever they chose to and they chose to ignore stuff they cant figure out. As I said before and I will say again Someone at Native Instruments should take on the responsibility in answering questions. Every other forum I can think of there is always another person there(Officially apart of the staff) to answer question. This forum is the only forum where the N.I. staff answers whatever question they chose to answer

probably because its a user forum. You have been told this 100 times already, I don't know why you continue to persist with this

No I have been told that N.I. answers threads whenever they feel like.

Yes, naturally. Because this forum is first and foremost USER forum, in which users of NI products (not NI members by definition!) lead discussions. NI officials pop in here and there to answer. They have no obligation whatsoever to provide support via this forum (it is not stated in their EULA!).

@OP - have you tried increasing your buffer size?

I have the same problem too but only with the Orchestral library. Before the most recent update, I was able to use 256 buffer size. Now I have to use 512, and even then there are occasional crackles. Unless I'm missing something, this a step backwards for me.

This has nothing to do with EULAs, but with applicable contract
law and consumer protection law. It shouldn't require a support
contract to get a product to do what it is advertised to do.

I bought KOMPLETE, and put it onto commodity hardware that
fulfills the stated system requirements (my MacBook), and I can't
get the thing to do what it says on the tin, which is to produce a
piano sound. -- The fact that it doesn't crackle and pop, or
introduce huge latency will be assumed by any consumer.

BTW: I can't get it to work even with max buffer size, and the
particular incarnation of this problem that I'm experiencing has
nothing to do with Logic, because I'm running this in standalone.

My next step will be to get more memory, uninstall everything,
reinstall the boxed version without applying any upgrades, and
if this doesn't work, I'll be asking for my money back.

Suggest you also check the NI knowledge base for hints and tips on how to configure you computer for best audio performance.

I think you misread EvilDragon. He merely stated that this user forum is not the official support channel (as clearly stated by NI in the forum FAQ and rules - "Please note that this is not a tech support forum. If you experience technical problems with an NI product, contacting our tech support team is the most efficient way to resolve the situation."). There are other channels for that. The forum is a place where users can help each other out. NI may occasionally chime in and, I'm glad to say, has done so increasingly often, but trying to post a question on the forum and with certainty expect an official answer is a recipe for unnecessary dissapointment.

last year when I started using kontakt in cubase (finale also) I too was getting the crackling problem. for me what always fixed it in finale and cubase was to use a different audio driver. try using the directsound (or directx) driver. also try using the wasapi driver in kontakt (full app). finally, try different drivers for your soundcard. occassionally cubase or finale would crash and I never knew why, until I started using a modded driver for my x-fi titanium card. since then, no crashes except when changing the sampling rate within cubase, not the os. also, with the modded driver, I can use the default creative ASIO driver now without any crackling.

also try raising or lowering your asio latency. for me 50-60 seems to be a good number
