    To reproduce:

    1) create empty project
    2) add two audio channels and one group channel
    3) add audio to the audio tracks, e.g. a vocal phrase in one and a sustained synth chord in the other
    4) add Vokator FX as an insert in the group channel
    5) Select A*B operating mode in Vokator, and set both inputs to Live
    6) Pan audio track 1 hard left and audio track 2 hard right
    7) Route both audio tracks to the group track

Start playback. The expected behaviour is the typical vocoded "singing synth", but it doesn't work as expected: only one audio channel is heard. This worked in Cubase SX and in other hosts that I've tested: Orion Platinum 7.1, FL Studio 6.0.8 and Ableton Live 6.0.1.

The obvious culprit is of course Cubase 4 and I've reported this in the Cubase support forum. NI might want to have a look however, C4 is a major host after all and ought to be supported.

Confirmed here too. Vokator is recognized in Cubase 4 as a *mono* in/stereo out plugin (the Right channel merely bypasses the plugin), whereas in SX3 it is (correctly) recognized as stereo in/stereo out.

    try using an older .dll.

i know the most recent .dll will not function right in Logic 5 PC, but the older .dll will work just fine.... NI support sould be able to mail you any of the older .dll files....

    Same here.
    Cubase 4.0.1
    Vokator 1.0.1.006

Only Input A works. Wasted a few hours before turning to the forum to see if anyone else had the same problem. I haven't tried older dll's but those have other problems from what I recall...

I just recently bought Vokator and was playing around in standalone. Now i tried to do the same stuff on Cubase 4.02 but as with the otehers here, there is no sound from input B. I will try out an earlier version as suggested later and hope to work around this problem somehow.

Same problem here. Tried without success for several days to get input B to work before looking here.

Anybody know the file date for previous dll. Mine is March 12 2004?

According to the Version History pdf file for Cubase 4.0.2, this problem has been fixed in that version.

I cannot confirm this because I live in a rural area where only dial up connection is available and I have not had the phone time to make the download.

I'm happy to report that Vokator works as expected in Cubase 4.0.2. This is Vokator version 1.0.3.021. So the problem seems to have been with Cubase 4 pre-4.0.2. Problem solved for me.
