I having a strange problem whereby I regularly have trouble moving (adding) tracks from the Tracks Collection to a playlist of my choice. It seems to do it when I first start Traktor Pro but then stop doing it at some point later on. A bit vague I know, but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this?
    ---
Have re-read the section in the manual it looks like you have to drag a track onto the Playlist icon and then onto the actual playlist. I'll try this when I get home. Bit annoying though.

    Anyone else with this problem?

I'm following the instructions to the letter below:

7.3.2 Adding Tracks to PlaylistsClick and hold one or more tracks.Drag it onto a playlist of your choice and keep holding the mouse button. The view of the Browser List changes and shows the destination playlist. If you move your mouse over the content of the playlist now, you will see a red line indicating where the track(s) will be inserted when releasing the mouse button.

I drag the track from the Track Collection to the playlist icon representing my playlist, the mouse icon changes to a plus but the Browers List does not change to show my play list.

    This is very annoying.

There are some threads about this already - you are not crazy, it seems to be a bug and I can't seem to make sense of it.

When I first started using Traktor Pro I was making Playlists fine - and then all of the sudden I saw the same behavior you have.

You are right....very annoying when trying to prep for a gig/set.....this is probably the biggest thing for me....sounds like the smallest....but when your workflow gets disrupted, it is a bummer...and hard to get over : (

+1 and I'm steamed about this one!

After importing and analyzing my nearly 8000 tracks I spent the next 3 nights putting them into playlist folders by genre. Cursory checks as I was going looked positive and what reason would I have to suspect that something as elementary as dragging and dropping, wasn't working properly?

Once I found a couple of missing items I went and repeated the steps to my missing tracks but found that under any circumstance, I can't move the tracks at all. I've investigated further and it seems there's a whole lot missing. #@*%

I'm really pissed about this. Having spent 99 clams on upgrading a product I spent good money for the first time 'round, I'd expect it to be working. That's right, working, now, straight away out of the box. I'm not a beta tester, I haven't got the time to debug and wait for updates, I (stupidly) expected this to be pretty much bullet proof, and setup/prepped as such (and before anyone suggests that I use my old TS, that isn't an option, I wish it were).

I'm sure Native Instruments won't be reimbursing me for my time lost, or they'll wave it away as a user error or put the blame on the other hardware/OS (my Macbook Pro). Maybe they will come with bug fixes/updates speedily. But it's too late, the damage has been done for me. I'm pissed that once again, a software company has released what I would describe as a half baked product and is using it's customers to debug/beta test.

NI may or may not care for my opinion and there's probably very little harm my ranting will do. But I am a pro audio dealer and I am also in charge of purchasing decisions on DJ, Studio and Hi Tech products. I haven't placed my new stocking order yet for TSP, so I can vote with lack of dollars and product support. I will leave that decision 'til after that weekend to see if I'm still as steamed as I am now.

When ever has the initial release of a new application version been anything near bullet proof?

DiscoNova, you must be kidding !

When ever has the >fourth< release of a new application been a >new< application?
When ever has simply changing the name and fixing the UI of a soft made it a new application?
Who ever dared to release a pro DJ software that isn't even capable of performing the most basic task a pro dj needs - i.e. simply build a playlist?
    N.I., of course!
    This is positively disgusting.

Yeah your right, I should have lowered my expectations especially as the new version included the word "Pro" (usually a tag used on crap products).

But when building version 4 of app, surely the aim is to better the previous version? How did they manage to go backwards? I couldn't give a toss about custom fonts or album art. What I do care about is stability, bpm analysis and PLAYLISTS. IT'S FRIKKIN DRAG AND DROP PEOPLE! How did this get missed in beta? Unbelievable!

Claiming to have the best product on paper don't mean jack when it can't cope with basic day to day functionality.

NI seriously dropped the ball on this one.

RE: Problems moving Tracks from Track Collection to Playlist

Just had this issue as well on a new blank playlist.
Got it to work by right clicking - clear playlist again on the new playlist.
After that I was able to add songs to it.

Have not encountered this issue with an on going playlist, yet.

I just spent an hour adding things to a playlist for my set tonight and none of them were added?

This problem and the fact that there is no feature to *lock* the playlist are driving me crazy.

I still cant figure out what this consolidate feature does because there is no way to UN consolidate... and it definitely does not lock the play order...

I am baffled that NI would release a new version with one of the most important features to the product was hacked to pieces and full of bugs...

Thank god I have a second laptop and I got the upgrade for free... Guess I will be using T3 on my old laptop tonight and until I get an update to fix these *bugs*.

So far the re-cleared list is working fine.
Still able to add tracks to it without any problems.
    ------------------------------------------------

    Okay spoke to soon.
Was messing around again with a different playlist that already had tracks on it and I encountered the bug.

So I tried a few of different things:
    - Reordering the list
    - adding songs to a new list and then back to the old
    - toggling the view to the browser only

And I was able to add to the original playlist again.
Not sure which one allowed me to add to the list again, but it seems the bug is just a temporary glitch.

    So to recap:
    - if it's a new blank list that your unable to add songs to re-clearing the list seems to work.
    - If it's an going list you may have to mess around a bit like I did to get it to work or you could just make a new list and copy the songs from the old list.

Why on earth would you need this? Surely viewing cover art is a much more valuable resource? Having basic playlist functionality is just crazy talk

I have the same issue adding to Traktor playlist, the drag and drop does not work. Until NI fixes this, I have resorted to creating my playlist in Media Monkey(MM)( my media player of choice) then import them into Traktor. Once imported I can can then drag and drop directly from MM into any of my existing Traktor playlist. A dual monitor it make this easier, The irony is not lost that you can do this from another program but not from within traktor itself. Unfortunately this is one on many issues with Pro. I am in love with its cleaner interface and new fx so that is why I am trying my best to stick with it. Hope they have an update fix coming soon.

As well as the problems noted above I am also finding that whenever I close Traktor Pro and reopen it all of my playlists are deleted...it says 'cannot find track collection' then proceeds to delete what was there before and start afresh...nice...very pleased with that.

I and others have that problem from day one with Pro. It happens on all my computers. What I been doing is NOT import my entire music collection (20,000) tracks. Instead I create my playlist(s) in another program like I stated in the post and then import them into Pro. Sure it does not have my entire collection which sucks but at least it has allows me to close the program without loosing my entire work like it did 4 times before! If I need to add more songs, I just drag from Media Monkey to the playlist.

    Here's what I noticed....

If i have playlists sorted by any field, i cannot transfer tracks into them. But if i "reset" a playlist by clicking the "#" field, i can transfer tracks fine. It's pretty damn inconvenient, especially when trying to account for duplicates when transferring across multiple lists, and i hope it is addressed very soon. But at least it's a workaround....

    Nice work rekluse.

Yes, it does work but I have to click the # field before every time I drag and drop, I was hoping that just sorting by # might have worked but alas, no.

At least I can now slowly work my way through..... I was tearing my hair out and was even preparing to take wax to my gig this week

Not sure if it helps anyone but I have found another way round this problem...I have found that when using the itunes option to play tracks in Pro it then remembers them the next time you open the software in the 'track collection'.

You can then create playlists in Pro itself rather than itunes. The only bit that is time consuming is loading each track onto a deck via the itunes option. It does work after this though.

Would recommend trying it on a few tracks first to check it works out for you before doing it for a thousand odd tracks and then being disappointed though!

    Cheers
