I've installed the demo-version of this product, to try it out. And I've plugged my guitar into a pre-amp, which I have connected to one of the input-ports on my Audigy2 soundcard.

The problem is that I cannot get the output from the guitar into the Guitar Combos config. The only port I get to work is "MIC", but that is badly distorted (sounds dreadful, and peaks at red (loud noise)). However, I can listen to the output of the guitar in Windows, by unmuting the channel, however that output is (obviously) not handled by Guitar Combos.

So, the problem here is that it seems that the Guitar Combos is unable to detect the sound ports of the Audigy 2?

No, the problem is that you have a serious level and impedance mismatch. Your MIC input is too hot and your other inputs are line level. You want an instrument level input- if you have a direct box or anything else that'll bring your guitar up to line level laying around, plug your guitar into that and then into the Audigy.

OOPS- I just read it again- that doesn't seem to be the problem. Do you have your line inputs activated in your Audigy mixer (the Windows mixer)? I'll bet you don't.

The thing is that I can hear the output of "AUX" when I unmute it in the Audigy2-console. With that, the sound is great, warm and just perfect (only, of course - no effects from GC).

The problem is that no matter which of the channels I pick as ACBox Input 1&2, I can't get any sound.

There's one option labeled "Auxiliary 2 (L&R)", but that gives no output at all in GC.

    ---

Now I've managed to get it to work, if I unmute the Aux-output, and use "Analog Mix (L&R)", now the levels are just right, but the problem is that I hear both the guitar sound WITH effects -AND- at the same time without them.

    MIC-port
I tried to change the input level on the Mic port, but all I got was a really low-level output, and despite the sound from the guitar didn't peak, it still breaks out and makes a loud noise (going up to red). This occurs whenever I don't play (for some weird reason) ... meaning it sounds just like when you hold a mic close to a speaker (and the noise is endlessly amplified) whenever I -don't- play the guitar.

Perhaps the demo version is limited though, and the full version will have all my Audigy2 ports?

I haven't had a Creative card in my machine for years, so I don't remember all the labels for ports. It almost sounds to me like something's holding on to your normal AUX out so you can't hear it- IIRC, the AUX2 is the S/PDIF out.

    What are your mixer options?
