Problems with Traktor Pro

I had no difficulties using traktor since buying my mac (only problems before that were due to my previous laptop not being powerful enough to run it), but recently I have experienced some serious problems.

I use it with the control vinyls and last Saturday while playing out it started going backwards through a track while I was mixing. It was in a big club with a good crowd of people in at 1.30am, not good! and it then did it again during a later track.

Then I had a gig on Saturday there and when i set it up it was being really temperamental, for some reason it was only playing the right deck when i disconnected and reconnected the deck or the main silver connection on the traktor cable. Also even when I did this it would for some reason move forward through the track if i pulled it back yet it still went forward through the track when i pushed the vinyl on?

I found this very strange, has anyone ever experienced anything like this, it seems like a connection issue but im really miffed as to why it would still not let me rewind through the track using the control vinyl? It could be a settings problem but even that doesnt make sense.

With this fault I managed to struggle through a set but it was horrible and I dont want to have to face doing it again, so any advice would be appreciated.

I have had this problem before when I used to use coded medium to control tracks. IF one cable is bad either left or right then this may cause it to go backwards.

Also Im not sure if this is still an issue but there was a type of mixer when I was in Germany/Belgium that when you switched from phono to line it sent a signal down the line and corrupted the code. In my case my code would just disappear.

Phil please change the title of your post to something relevant with your exact problem. Every one here has "problems" with TP thats why were here..Im not trying to be jerk, Im trying to increase the odds of you solving your problem.

Thanks for the response and apologies for the title, there just seems to be so much going wrong with it, I'm stressed, I've no gig's for 5 weeks now though so plenty of time to get this problem sorted out.

Will have a hunt for those threads now.

Definitely sounds like tracking issues. If your stuff is working correctly at home then it probably isn't a problem with your audio 8 or traktor. I always take spare carts with me to gigs in case their carts are trashed. A distorted analogue signal will sound a bit rubbish, but a distorted digital one will confuse the software. Oh, and make sure you have the knowledge and hotkeys to beatmix with your laptop keyboard or midi controller as a last resort.

 

yeah .. This is what i thought .. i had to go into internal ans sync a few times . one time though it brought me into internal a a slower bpm .. arrg ..

Anyhow , i've also deleted all my hotkeys that i don't need . who knows in the dark with a bit of booze what i might be accidentally touching !
