I think that is a very good idea, actually.

Recent thread at KVR made me think on this and made me aware the major complaint seems to be the lack of snapshot with ens. Payware like Spark is favored, Spark is great no argument there, but there are other ensemble that are capable of quality stuff as well that I think are ignored and could use this sort of attention to get exposure and quality time. But that would require an investment and interest on NI’s and as far as I can see beyond spark there is none, so it’s really a mute issue. Sorry NI to sound so negative but I would really like to see the Reaktor ensemble promoted like spark was and feel some of UL design could easy merit as products, that is my point nothing more or less.

    OP-X

Hi have you folks checked out OP-X?

I thought for the longest time that NI should do a heavy Oberheim.

The demos on the main page sound pretty cool:

There are some good ones in the library as I recall.

If NI did another commercial synth in the retro direction, I would suggest Oberheim, like an OB8 but thats just me. :)

OP-X is a really good example. Think Stephan V's recent update of Concept X is as well.

Unfortunately, it is. Why? Because Kore will only use ensembles that are tagged by NI as usable by the internal engine; your normal Reaktor ensembles won't load into Kore if you don't own Reaktor as well.

Do you have any idea if this is an intrinsic thing with Kore, or if it's an restriction NI have deliberately put in place? If it is something deliberate, that implies it could be changed - opening up Kore to be a kind of "Reaktor Sessions on steroids".

They put out this ad today, so the ship hasn't been totally abandoned quite yet :
"NI is looking to fill positions in our Berlin and L.A. offices including: DJ Software Developer, Software Developer for Reaktor Core, DSP Software Developer, Software Libraries Developer, Quality Assurance Tester and Internships in GUI Design, Product Managment and Documentation. "

It's deliberate. Remember that the vast majority of your Reaktor builders don't build their own ensembles. What you're proposing's a slap in the face to them...

I dont think that is in the scope of what Kore is intended for. I agree with ew on that one. Reaktor is a seperate product. With Kore, I think the best option is really to just break open the bank and get Komplete.

Let me adjust my idea slightly, it would be cool if there was an animated circuits type of sound pack that is user created from the UL or those that own Reaktor, I think this has been said before. I feel that there are certain builder and builds in the UL that could merit this attention.

As an example I will use one of my own synths so I can talk freely and not drag anyone else into my insane ideas. So let’s say NI agrees this would be an interesting venture and they are will to make the investment, they call for submissions. I decide that I want to try and I polish up my synth Submission. After I polish it up I sit down and polish up the 100 snaps I have for it with a set of variations for the morph feature, I label and categorize all the snaps in accordance with the brower and set up all the knobs to control key feature etc etc. Now the synth is prepared for Kore. I submit the synth, they like it and they go with it. They have to do whatever magic they have done for spark and animated circuits, it licensed to them, it’s released as a freebie, like they did with the Christmas package for the Kore player. I have no problem with this. I would be totally into it.

I do realize that this is would be a big investment on NI’s part for the Reaktor community, requiring funding and man hours to make it happen, space on the home page would have to be provided etc. It’s just an idea, I have no expectation and I realize it’s unrealistic, but why not at least present it. :D

Actually Reaktor is self contained in only one DLL in the Kore player.. along DLLs for Absynth, Massive, FM8, etc..
There is nothing specially complex about the Reaktor kore ensembles.. and i am sure the conversion process from Reaktor ensemble to Kore is very simple as all processes are already self-contained in the Reaktor Kore DLL.

If NI wanted to offer a stand-alone Reaktor player or to offer a VST compiler for Reaktor they could do so tomorrow.. they already have the technology and know-how.. it just doesn't make any business sense.
