I am looking at a Acuna 88 controller. It's manual says this about program changes:

    "Please refer to the manual
of your sound module or software instrument, to find which
Program Change value is used for which sound. If your sound
module follows the General MIDI standard, you can also refer to
the list on page 55. Possible values are 0 to 127."

Do the instruments in Kontakt5 have Program Change values? How would this work in Kontakt ?

Program Change messages can be used to select an instrument from an Instrument Bank. or can be handled by a custom Multi-script. Reference Manual, chapters 9 and 18.

Thank you for the citation. I still am not clear on the "midi program change" in ch 9, and need to learn more about scripts. Isn't there a simple way to do this? I use K5 as a standalone, live performance.

A simple way to do is is using Instrument Banks, as DarkStar said. Create one, put the NKIs you want to switch between in it, and then use Program Change messages to select specific instruments. Read about Instrument Banks in the manual if you need more info.

This is the best way if you want to use Program Changes to change instruments.

I very occasionally play keys live - and use Kontakt5
Laptop ill be next to me on stage.

I find the most convenient way to use K5 is to create a Multi for each song
Each multi will have several instruments layered / stacked / split across the keyboard.

I then save these Multi's into a folder - and set them up in Quick Load - Multi

Then in the Multi-Rack above the instruments - I can quickly step through the set using the "Next" < > buttons.

However: This is a question for EvilDragon
Is it hypothetically possible to write a script that could take a midi input such as program change - and go to next multi in Multi-Rack?

Is there a way to do this? I am using the instrument banks(3) method for layers and program change and it works very well but I have seen hints that this might be more CPU intensive than Multies. If it is - how do we switch Multis in quickload with midi Program Change commands?
