When I work with Garritan Personal Orchestra and my software Sibelius, I would like to add “program changes”, for example in strings sections (violins 1 for example) change from “violins 1 lush” to “violins 1 pizzicato” or whatever. Since each sound represents a channel and we have 8 available in each one of the 8 Kontakt Player from GPS, how can I manage to make program changes, like midi program changes, from Sibelius in a specific instrument?

Is there a midi message that allows me to change the midi channel during the playback of the score in sibelius?

    Thank you in advance

    Hola Diego,

I´ve the same problem with Sibelius and Kontakt. Its incredible that a new product can not understand program changes. If you have an idea, please let me know.

What kind of music do you write? I´m from 31.Oct to 13.Nov in Puerto. If you like, we can meet us and talk about the problems and music. Please let me know!

    Saludos a Tenerife
    Rolf.

    what?

Sibelius reads and plays all articulations and symbles just write
Pizz (control-t) then it will automatically change to that, then write arco when you want to go back(it's real score after all). GOP doesn' understand this in Sibelius?

    Steve,

Sibelius works very good. For me is the best notation program for a lot of diferent reasons. Besides, when you work only with midi, using, for example, a midi sound module all looks wonderful. Sibelius understand all the messages you write, like "pizz" or "arco", just like you say. When you work with a virtual sampler like Kontakt player using the garrington personal orchestra, this messages does not work because it is not midi.

    Sibelius Rocks the House

man that sounds like a pain then LOL...I guess GPO is an instrument that one needs to learn. I was thinking of getting a while back but decided not to. Just save pieces as midi then load them up in Sonar 3 and go from there for the recording, still I think Sibelius performing the music would be better, even more realistic. yea I love Sibelius I have published some piano sonatas on that music sibelius thing with it(vienna style) and am writing jazz and some more classical music with it. Just the scores no recording.
    see ya

Program changes in Sibelius are done using Technique Text (ctrl or cmd + T).

Using your example, Deigo, you should have the violin lush loaded into one slot (1) in the INSTRUMENT BANK and the other violin loaded in the next (2). In Sibelius, it is best to enter the MIDI command (technique text) before where you want the change to happen to ensure that it will in fact play back.

The following should be enter to changed from 001 to 002:

    ~p2

...and vice versa for whatever other (1-128) programs you might have loaded into a bank. Nothing after ~ display in Sibelius, so it will be hidden on printed parts.

If you want to indicate the change to the performer, you could enter the following, as anything before the ~ will display:

    Pizz.~p2

    I hope this helps!
