    Hi guys,

Excuse my nubeness when it comes to the Maschine but am I the only one that is scratching my head trying to figure out how to use this thing within ProTools? I've read the OFFICIAL documentation which is seriously lacking in DAW integration information and really it does not tell you at all how to use this thing within a DAW; just "refer to your DAW's documentation for using plug-ins". Sorry, but how is the DAW manufacturer supposed to know about all the nuances of the device in question? The least Native-Instruments could do was to provide a few paragraphs for each MAJOR DAW such as ProTools, Logic, Cubase, etc. My M-Audio ProjectMix I/O control surface's documentation did exactly this and helped immensely when getting everything set up.

So, that's my rant, here are my questions:

    1) Is there a way to route audio from STAND-ALONE MASCHINE to ProTools? Currently, the only way I see doing this (found a work-around in this thread) is by using Maschine as Plug-In using an Auxiliary track and outputing that to a Bus and then using an Audio track with Bus as input which leads to my second question/situation:

    2) When using MASCHINE as a plug-in from within Protools, the device/software does not seem to work AT ALL like it does in Stand-Alone mode. Example; in Stand-alone, it is a piece of cake to make a beat; just load a kit, hit record/play and bingo. In plug-in mode, even when trying to control Maschine with control surface controls (play, record, etc), nothing is reacting the way it should. I know that I cannot use the Transport controls on the MASCHINE the same way as I do when it's in STAND-ALONE mode.

I'm running the following software/hardware versions:

    Maschine: 1.1.0.025
    ProTools M-Powered v8.01
iMAC 2GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo with OSX Leopard 10.5.8 (3 gigs of RAM)

Any help, links, info would be appreciated. Native Instruments: PLease provide some better documentation and/or tutorials on DAW integration.

fwiw, many of the Tutorial Videos that NI made feature Pro Tools as the DAW.

there are been a few threads here about Pro Tools

the 1.1 update - which you have - has Audio Drag n Drop. please read the documentation. with this, you can Drag n Drop Audio from Maschine straight into Pro Tools.

with your second question, you don't give any details about how Maschine should work. with the 1.1 update you can put Maschine onto an Instrument Track and record MIDI in Pro Tool to trigger the Maschine Sounds.

i work a lot with Maschine Standalone, and then i use Drag n Drop to put the Audio in my DAW of choice - Logic.
