I have an Ecler Nuo 4 & 2 x CDJ-1000s, and an Acer Aspire 6930. I want to be able to use all 4 decks.... 2 channels via the CDJs & time-coded CDs, and 2 channels via the MIDI channels on my mixer.

I'm going to be buying Traktor Scratch Pro or Traktor Pro sometime soon. I'd rather not buy the whole Traktor Scratch Pro set up though, as I don't have the cash to do it right now since I just bought a new laptop & new mixer in the last month.

I've been thinking about finding an external sound card anyways since recording on this sound card sounds like ****.

Is there a cheaper way to do all of this? (possibly an external sound card that has 4 inputs and 2 outputs)

    Any help is muchly appreciated.

You NEED an Audio8/Audio4/Traktor Certified mixer AND Traktor SCRATCH Pro to control with timecode.

Then you need Traktor Scratch Pro, and you're good to go. Shazam!

then you just need to buy the Traktor software only! and plug the usb to PC and mixer.

only 2 of the channels are MIDI capable. i want to be able to play through 4 channels.

would i be able to use the M-Audio Fast Track Pro for the audio interface between the cdjs and Traktor Scratch Pro?

CDJs/time-coded cds ---> Fast Track Pro ----> Traktor ---> Fast Track Pro ---> Nuo 4

Your mixer is not Traktor Scratch Ready (there is no audio interface inside). Then you need a whole TS Pro package. Any others sound cards (except Audio 8 DJ or Audio 4 DJ) not capable with timecode. With Audio 8 DJ you will be able to use all 4 decks. All decks with timecode control (then you need 4 cd players) OR 2 decks with timecode control and 2 decks with midi control

That statement is 100% incorrect. Please do not advise users incorrectly. That may have been an honest mistake but you should make sure your information is water tight before posting it.

Unfortunately you will have to buy the whole TSP package because the Ecler is Traktor Ready (includes config files for the software. Its is not Traktor Scratch Certified as it does not include an audio interface.

Your Fast Track will not work with timecode. Only the Audio8 DJ with the TSP package will work.

i was just told about the ESI Maya 44 USB.

    would this work?

i know it works with Traktor 3. i also know that you can use time-coded CDs/vinyl with other DJ programs. just want to make sure this will work before i go out and purchase Traktor Scratch Pro & this unit.

I want to believe you Karlos, I do. But I also need a new 4-chan mixer....and I'm looking hard at the d4Pro, Zero4, and while browsing the Traktor Ready (not scratch certified, I know) page, found that the Nuo4 had "Timecode Setup" listed...I know odds are against it being capable of controlling via timecode, but a small filipino man can dream, can't he?

    http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=traktorready&L=1

Can someone from NI give us the real deal? Or just send me a Zero4....

O-N-L-Y Audio 8 DJ (or Audio 4 DJ) will work with timecode in TS(TDJS 3), TS Pro. If you don't need timecode control your card will work for you

I saw this as well dude so i had a check and the NUO4 does not have an internal souncard so i think the website may be misleading.

I will ask support and get back.

    SO...
The NUO4 is a hybrid Mixer that when used in a timecode setup gives much more control than a conventional mixer as it has phono/line level controls AND midi control attributes.
It is not Traktor Certified and will not provide timecode support as the Zero4 does. The Ecler does not have an Internal Soundcard.

@ Telly, unfortunately they sent the last test Zero4 out to chilly but he was out so it was returned to sender and was lost in transit by Royal Mail suspiciously somewhere in the Manchester Region of UK .

*gazes at pretty lights on new mixer*

    Not true

This is absolutely Not True . I Have my time code set through my Fast Track pro.

dennon Sl 3500 (CDJ) in to 1/2 input on fast track pro then into my DDM 4000 works just fine. Only problem is you have to switch your scratch control in between records due to the fact the input are mono. There no reason you need a an audio 8 or 4 .

    Karlos you are from Manchester?

I'm currently studying here but got a pint glass smashed in my face last week for no reason. Now I look like a twat and am starting to regret having come here! Could have been worse..

Sh*t man that is bad. No im from nearby Preston.
Not any better or worse than Manchester. That kinda thing can happen anywhere though.

Manchester Uni is a great Uni though. Manchester is City with a lot of great musical history , unfortunately its also got more than its fair share of smackheads and idiots .

    Hope your well dude.:(
