    Hi Martin,

    Thanks for your answer.
I hope this time is has been well tested because I have spend hours to test it and I have report a lot of bugs on theprevious version.

I could not understand that there was so many problems for a version that was to be said by E/W "to have only a few little problems" !

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards

    Hi Cyril,

we have a version that we think is fine. But we are waiting for some feedback from EW and some EWQLSO testers just to make sure that this version is really fine to work with. We haven´t got any reponse from EW yet, which might mean that everything is fine.

I understand that you are desperately waiting for the OS-X versions, but we do not want to upload them until we know (expecially from EW) that they work good.

    Thanks for your patience,

    Martin

    Martin -

Understanding that, perhaps NI should remove their latest news story, which states that:

"as of NAMM show 2004, all NI synthesizers, samplers, effects, and DJ tools are completely compatible to Mac OS X. 14 outstanding NI software programs are ready to integrate perfectly into every professional production environment under Mac OS X. Support for Audio Units, VST 2, and RTAS make plug-in integration absolutely seamless."

Honestly, this isn't true. NI's marketing department is making statements beyond what its development team can produce. It's nothing personal, it's just misleading.

    Hi Eric,

actually this is true, because all Kompakt instruments and Intakt instruments are not really OUR products, but East Wests, Zero-Gs etc. products. So this statement is true, because all OUR products are now available for OS-X.

But I don´t want to become picky here, of course all the products from our partners always follow shortly after we have released ours. The only reason for this is that we we always want to derive the OEM versions of the Kompakt or Intakt instruments from the latest version that we have (which include a lot of bugfixes or improvements).

    Hope for your understanding,

    Martin

Are you saying then that DFD under OSX works in the full, NI, non-third-party versions of Kompakt, and Kontakt?

    Not on my machine.

I'm sorry but it's simply not true that Kontakt works in OSX. I've stripped my machine to the bone, disabled DFD and Kontakt STILL crashes Logic.

There's also the issue of Kontakt spitting back small bits of hash at the release of the sample which makes it unusable in a quiet setting. You guys have known about this stuff for quite some time and I'm sure you're working hard..... but it doesn't work right now and to say it does is not true. Ad copy notwithstanding.

Also to pass the buck and say that the spin offs are not your products is disingenuous because NI has the sole responsibility for the functionality of the basic engine.

PS I'm still a big NI fan.

It would be nice to see a little honesty in dealing with some rather serious problems though. Your customers will love you for it.

PPS You guys must be making a ton of money with all these new co-development deals etc. Why don't you hire some more people who can help you code for the Mac? I know it's only 5% of the market but either do it or (if you can't) tell us, and we'll all just buy a PC or two to run NI stuff. It's so cheap to buy a PC it doesn't even make sense anymore to try to run it on a Mac. (unless it ran better_____but it doesn't)

You won't even lose any customers.

You could even sell some kind of a bundle deal for previous OSX users. Something just killer..... in a gesture of appreciation for all that us poor OSX refugees have been through.

Something that would save us a coupla hundred bucks so now the PC would only be costing $300 or $400

I bet a lot of people would be willing to give you $300 or $400 if that would make all of their NI/ OSX problems go away.

    whadya say?

    QLSO for OSX

I do not agree, the VSL packadge is running very well on a G5 2x2, I cannot afford to buy one or 2 PC or 1 or 2 MAC to run QLSO.
If I had know that I would have bought VSL.

1st to say I bought QLSO Platinum for it's BIG sound, it is very good.

NI should be able to do as well as Emagic with the EXS24.

After fixing the DFD and having one DFD setup.

    1) they have to remove all unecessary feature like chorus reverb.. so it is fast. They must just make a relyable and easy to use sampler player.

    2) They may have to review there file format so it does not take ages to load a multi.

    3) They must share the samples between multi

    4) They must improve legato playing, there must be no gap between notes when you play legato.

    5) They must improve playing fast notes to avoid the magine gun effect.

    6) E/W has to make a set of Multi with the same basic articulations for each instrument, and that by kind of instrument.

    7) E/W must add the Viola Pizzy

    8) E/W must review each instrument so you find the same programs by kind of instruments.

Then QLSO will be better that VSL ;o)
