Hey Gang! I am real excited about traktor and just bought a faderfox. Thanks FLorian! I would like to know how you mix hiphop? I can mix most dance music but beat matching and mixing hiphop has proven tougher. I try to slide the bpm to match the other song but it sounds all funky. Sometimes I can compensate with the pitch but not usually. Just wondering. Thanks for the info.

Well first of all, if you a relying on Traktor to accurately determine the bpm of hip-hop thats gonna be your first problem. You'll need to probably go thru most of your hip-hop tracks and set the bpm by hand.
Second, you can't mix most hip-hop using long fades like you would dance. Most of the times the vocals kick in after the first two or four bars so you've got to mix quickly.
Either that or you can loop the first few beats of the track you're mixing in, mix using the loop, and once your mix is finished turn off the loop and let the track play.

    he's right!!
usually they are shown with the double bpm or the half. if you give a range, that helps alot, but you should setup beatgrids, too...

this is exactly how i do it... i'm using the loops ALOT! especially with hiphop tracks...

besides that you can of course do it oldschool and just cut the next beat in. needs some scratching practise ;-)
