Okay, im very confused about something in Reaktor.
Obviously, i know the difference between Mono audio and Stereo audio, in that stereo is two parts played in sync through a Left and Right channel as compared to Mono, which only runs audio through one channel.

But when making a stereo delay macro (and a primative one at that) i found that if i switched the whole macro to Mono, it still had the same effect as if it was Stereo.

The only real difference i can see, is the ability to connect a lamp or meter module without a voice combinator, when its in mono.

What is going on? it really does worry me that i have no idea the difference in this sense, when its so simple in another...

    Thanks In Advance

    Deano

Mono v. stereo means one part vs two parts (left and right).

The Mono checkbox on your delay macro means monoPHONIC. The counterpart to that is polyphonic - more than one note at a time.

If you had an 8-voice synth with a polyphonic delay, and you held down an 8-note chord, Reaktor would process the delay macro 8 times - once for each voice. Whereas a monophonic delay is only processed once for the whole synth - which is why you can add a panel lamp/meter to it: even if you play a chord, the monophonic macro only outputs one value, which can be displayed in one meter. Mono v stereo for L/R, mono v poly for number of voices.

    Hope that helps

No worries Deano - R5 can be a big stack of learning curves, there's still plenty of things about polyphony that I don't understand.

    Have a good day

Dave, you give some of the best explanations out there. Ever consider publishing a Reaktor book? Hurry before v6 comes out ;-)

How about if I write it for R5 and time publication for the same week v6 appears?

Are you being serious here Dave?

I think you should start a new thread mate, see what the Reaktolites and Reaktards (like me) think of it. =P
