Hey guys, I'm new to the world of Traktor (and still relatively new to DJing in general) and am looking at investing in it after trying it at a mates house the other day.

My main issue is that i have a large vinyl collection already and simply cannot be bothered to get hold of digital copies, whilst also deciding that with the money i would probably spend on vinyl over the next year could be better spent on a laptop, scratch duo 2 and a new mixer.

At the moment my setup is:

    2 Sl1210MK2s
    Concorde Pro S carts
    Numark iM2 mixer.

the TTs have had RCA plate mods so each table is capable of two outputs at once, and my thinking went that i could do the following to allow me to play vinyl AND use timecodes in the same set:

    1. Get a 4ch mixer (im thinking the Behringer DJX750 at the mo, cos its a good price and ive heard good things about it)
    2. Wire one output from each TT to the sound card, then however the soundcard hooks up to the two channels to two of the mixer's inputs.
    3. Wire one output from each TT to the other two mixer inputs.
    4. Mix up.

Is this plausible, feasible and reliable? can anyone see any issues? obviously for playing out I will need to take my own TTs or take an RCA splitter and some extra cables for each deck.

    Hey Dave,

    Welcome to the forum.

When you purchase Scratch Duo you will get a set of multicores in the box which essentially does the same thing as the mod on your TT's. You also would not nessesarily need a 4 ch mixer. You could make do with 2. The output of your TT is phono level. You would plug that into the phono input on your mixer. The output of your soundcard will be line level so you plug that into the line in. Then you should have a switch on the mixer (on each channel) to switch between line and phono. Simply flick the switch to line to play the laptop with timecode and flick again to phono when you want to play regular vinyl.

Mutley, I didn't ask for two output sets when I bought the upgrade kit, however it sure beats the hell out of having too much/not enough RCA cable to hook up to mixers/amps (because sometimes its nice to crack on a bit of elgar or debussy in the background, and you really don't need a mixer for that).

Also, allow me to clear up confusion re: timecodes and regular wax: my aim was to be able to use both traditional vinyl and digital from traktor in the same set :)
