    Hey guys,

So I organize my music in folders based on genres ie:
    • Music
      • Techno
      • Trance
      • House

I was wondering if there is any way of importing these folders into Traktor's collection while maintaing their current folder structure without having to create playlists for each folder and manually importing each sub-folder (I have way more subfolders than listed above).

An alternative to this question would be: is there any way of forcing Traktor to save the track analysis for songs in folders which are not in the collection after I shut down Traktor? -- it's basically the only reason why I need to import the songs into Traktor's collection.

Traktor imports everything into the collection. But it is possible to use your tracks straight from their original folders by opening them with the Browser Explorer tree. New Tracks can be automatically analyzed on import (a default enabled option in Traktor preferences) and while they are analyzed and imported, the anakysis information is still loaded when you open the track from it's original location (which Traktor does anyway - as it doesn't copy tracks - it just references where they are stored! )

I have not found an easy method to importing folders and their sub-folders while maintaining the folder structure. It's probably the most irritating thing about Traktor for me.

I really, REALLY wish there was an option from the explorer node to right click on a folder and have an option to import a folder and it's sub-folders into the collection. Currently, you can only import a folder as a playlist by right clicking on it. I can't imagine it being that difficult to implement something like that.

I recently redid my entire collection and I have a folder that is sorted by artist. There's easily several hundred sub-folders in there for all artists from A-Z. It took me about 4-5 hours to finish what could have been a 10 minute job if there was an easier method like I mentioned.

Hmm, I disagree. Files & Folders are not meant to be deep and complicated.
A much better way is to use a database - yet Traktor is unfortunately not integrating well with other databases.. Except iTunes in a limited way.

Files and folders is really a relic from old DOS days and needs to die! ;D

use the genre tag. make all techno tracks have a techno genre tag. then, below the collection node, you can have the tracks listed like that.
