R4 as VST, "please get an update" error

Hi I'm having trouble getting Reaktor 4.1.1 ensembles to load in Live 3.0.3 and Tracktion 1.5.1.2. This problem also happened with previous versions of the softwares.

I can load R4 ensembles from the included library as VSTs in Tracktion and Live without a problem. But when I try to load ensembles that I've created (mostly just modified versions of the included ensembles) or that I've downloaded from the user library, I get the following error message:

"Error while reading file...The file was created by a newer version (3.39 or 3.55). Please get a software update!"

All of these ensembles open just fine as standalones.

Any hints?

yeh i used to get that problem before i upgraded to 4.04. since 4.1 it has been ok. i think they withdrew the 4.1.1 update and released 4.1.2, this might have something to do with it. so download it and update. should hopefully solve ur problem

Your host's looking at the wrong vst.dll-Reaktor will install the vst.dlls to the first folder on the drive named Vstplugins(usually C:/Program Files/Vstplugins on a Windows machine)by default.If you use a different plugin folder,this will cause problems.
Do a search for the four .dlls(Reaktor4.dll,Reaktor4FX.dll,Reaktor4 2x8FX.dll,and Reaktor4Surround.dll)-you'll find multiple copies.Move the proper version to your VST folder.
Or you can delete ALL instances of those four .dlls and run the update again,this time choosing to only install the VST plugin.Browse to the appropriate folder when the choose VST folder screen comes up.

followed above advice with no luck.

I noticed that in Reaktor 4.1.2, the ReaktorVST.dll and ReaktorVSTFx.dll are version 4.0.0.2, while the other 4 .dll are version 4.1.2.1.

Has the VST plug-in not been updated since 4.0.2? Or is an oudated version haunting my machine somehow?

Nope-the latest versions are 4.1.2.1 for all.

I'm confused. I don't understand why when I install 4.1.2, I get outdated versions of the VST.dll and VSTFx.dll.

 

Sounds like they aren't being overwritten.Try downloading the update again-it might have been corrupt.
