I have just upgraded from r3 to r4. Everytime I start using older sampler-based ensembles R4 stops and shows a warning sign "processor overload". I am running a 2.2 Ghz PC, and CPU-Meter is showing just 5% workload. Same ensembles make no problems on r3.

    any ideas?

PS: Formerly it was possible to load instruments as instruments, now I allways have to build them with ensembles. ???

    ANNOYING PROCESSOR OVERLOAD!!!

I'm getting this message also when trying to render projects using FL Studio. I get like the first 4 bars then I get a msg box saying:

"Processor Overload! Audio processing has been stopped! The program cannot reduce the number of voices further and your computer cannot generate this number of voices at the given sample rate. Please reduce the sample rate or the complexity of the ensemble and restart audio processing."

This is lame! I have a 1.8 ghz cpu and I'm just using Steampipe with 2 voices, and a Titan synth with 1 voice!!! It runs fine when I'm listening to it...

What's the deal here? I know my computer can handle this. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ensembles that take far lass CPU in R3 (say 55%) are overloading CPU when I open the same ensemble in R4. I thought that R4 was supposed to have improved optimization. R4 runs very poorly for me.
There has been mention that R4 now also measures the graphic load to the CPU as well as the audio load. I think there must be some kind of bug in this.

someone told me that there could be an option in reaktor to give it cpu priority during render times. does anyone know if this is true?

If you are in OS X its very easy to give an app priority. Plenty of apps on versiontracker if you want to avoid the terminal.

    sorry I didn't clarify...i'm using win XP with a 1.8ghz p4 + 1gb ram...the host is FL Studio. reaktor 3 worked great with it. :(

Someone (and I) noticed that since version 4, Reaktor has problem with offline processing (cubase -> export audio).

With R3, you could render any track offline with cubase even if the cpu was overloaded at 400%.

It doesn't seem to work anymore...

Does FL studio render the audio file in realtime or does it compute the output offline, like cubase does ?

    Solution

Funny enough there is no problem at all when I use the same esembles when R4 is integrated in Cubase…_

    me too

I'm getting a similar problem in Sonar 2 on a 1.4ghz Athlon PC with 640mb RAM. It will handle no more than 1 ensemble (as an effect - Banaan Electrique or Flatblaster for example) at once before falling over - R3 could handle 3 or 4...

I suppose you can get round it by processing the audio files separately outside Sonar and adding them back in, but that's a bit of a pain.

    Any solutions?

Banaan and Flatblaster are two CPU intensive ensembles,though-both of them average about 50% on my ancient 933 MHz PIII.I wouldn't expect you to be able to use more than one ensemble at a time if they're that CPU intensive.
Also, why do it outside of Sonar? Why not just use the Apply Audio Effects command? If you make a copy of your track pre-processing and archive it,it's there in case you change your mind...

Aha... yes of course... or just bounce them to a different track or something. Still getting to grips with it. Cheers.

    it must be the gui

Shouldn't there be an option to select the rate of gui updates -( like in orion ), I wonder if reaktor uses a OnIdle style drawing which is doing lots of unneccesary stuff.

I would like to be able to basically strip down the whole thing so that it would run as fast as it did in version three.

It makes things worse that three and four are not compatible and there is no tool out yet to convert.

I have all but given up using reaktor standalone except for die hard sessions. Propheads reason can run 20 times more instruments and effects!
