Hello. I have the following problem with certain ensembles (Steampipe being one):

    – I use one of the presets (ie. Steampipe itself) as a starting point.
    – I adjust some parameters until I have a sound I like.
    – As soon as I hit record, the sound totally changes into a limp empty sound.
    – This happens every time – several synthesizer ensembles seem to be affected in this way.
    – I use R5 as a plug-in in Logic 6.4.3

I might be missing something obvious here – but I sure am missing it!

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I wonder if this is related to the bug I just started a thread about. Some ensembles are doing strange things in plugin mode, but work fine in standalone mode. Do these ensembles work fine in standalone mode for you? Also, keep in mind that if you installed 5.1.1, that logic 6.x is no longer supported, only 7.x and up.

Thanks for your reply. I wouldn't be able to investigate my particular problem in standalone mode, as it only occurs when I go to record in Logic...

re version: I have version 5.1.0.010. Was this supported in Logic 6.4.3 at any point? If so, it should still work (unless there was a bug to this effect)?

    Cheers,

    Bernd

your version of Reaktor should still work with Logic 6.4.3.

regarding your problem. it sounds like you are getting some sort of reset?

try saving your adjustments as a new snapshot before recording.

    Hi,

I'm getting this with Sinebeats in SONAR. Fire up a preset, alter it, hit record, preset reverts to original settings.

Can't get into the habit of saving the new settings...

    Eric.

well, unless you get into the habit of saving your new settings, you will continue to get this problem.

keep in mind that sinebeats has that snapshot control bit. maybe turning that off will solve your problems (since maybe the sequencer is sending a note message, thus changing the snapshot). its always a good idea to save snapshots often, i usually make a new bank when im doing a song that requeires extensive use of an ensemble (rather than just one or 2 presets).

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. However, I have also encountered the same problem with an un-modified preset. The sound doesn't just revert to the preset settings, but changes into an unusable, pitchless noise (in the case of SteamPipe) with none of the controls visibly changing... Any ideas?? Thanks, B.

Hi Bernd, from your description it seems that I have exactly the same problem as you. I use Reaktor session in Logic 6.4.3 on a Mac. Have you been able to generate a solution yet?

Logic will ALWAYS reset all controllers on start. The only solutions are to turn off all automation or send a program change right after you begin recording...

For the Sonar issue, go into your project options menu and uncheck the reset boxes in the MIDI out page.

    Hi Ew,

thanks for getting back to me. I cannot see an automation track which controls switching between snapshots; does that mean I have to programme every single control to get the sound that I want or is there a way around that?

    Cheers,

    Jan
