Thanks for the response... Reinstall the service? Please explain Thanks.

This is what I've tried... When I installed Traktor Pro I picked up the X1's about a week later... The guy at guitar center told me since I have Traktor pro it was no need to install anything just plug and play... But once I plugged up the X1 the new hardware window popped up and after searching and not finding the drivers I unplugged and pulled out the cd for the X1 and tried to install the software... It starts to install be when it gets to installing usb driver it hang's... the bar keeps scrolling... When I click cancel it still scrolls and never quits so I have to ctr+alt+delete then go to processes where I have to click on "Traktor Kontrol X1 Driver Setup.exe which has two but after I highlight one of them then click end process the Traktor install window goes away.

But if I go to Control Panel/Add and Remove Programs the Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol X1 Driver is there. After noticing this I tried to plug up one of the X1's and the same "New Hardware box pops back up with the same result as before.

So I uninstalled the driver and tried this after hearing from NI support.

There are times when installing an application or a driver that the installation
suddenly fails. This can cause an unsuccessful re-install or uninstall because the
original install files are corrupted or missing.
You have an option to use a utility that may be able to repair or remove the
installation information. Windows Installer Clean_Up Utility can help in these
cases. Windows Installer Clean_Up Utility will not remove the actual program from
your computer. (Please be aware some applications or programs might not be
repaired if Windows Installer was not used as part of the install process.)
However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the
installation, upgrade, or uninstall all over.

    Didn't Work

I've updated Control Editor/X1 driver and Traktor Pro from the website and the Service Center.

I added my son's mp3 player that installs a usb driver and the process went flawless.

So now I'm here... Confused and don't know what else to try.

What did you end up doing to fix the problem?

The last time it hung I didn't go to Remove Programs and un-install anything, I plugged up the Kontrol X1 and when it asked me to install driver I pointed it to the Kontrol X1 folder and it installed the driver... Weird but it worked.
