ok my pads have some sort of delay. when i press them while i am playing or recording, the sound does not go off immediately.
is there a setting i can chose so that it goes off immediately?

That's not a maschine problem, the problem is the latency of your soundcard, if you use your internal soundcard, you should
Get an external one like the audio kontrol 1 from NI, you won't get any delay then.

    ok
well i have an external soundcard, lexicon lambda.
i used it but it still has the delay, do you think it is the soundcard? or might the maschine need +48v?

It's the soundcard. I haven't heard good things about Lexicon drivers to be honest about it.

And, Maschine runs on the typical 5 volt/500 mA that's asked for by the USB spec. +48 volts is for microphones; not USB peripherals.

    Try using ASIO4All:

do you think it is the way i connected it?
what i did was plug my midi in and outs of the maschine to the midi in and outs of the soundcard. then i plugged my soundcard and maschine to my laptop. is that the right set up?

Agree; get asio4all (look it up in Google) if you are using a Soundblaster/Realtek/etc audio card. I have Maschine installed on my office Dell machine (not putting on my production box until I am sure of it), and I am getting about 16ms latency (with an occasional hiccup that sounds like digital machine gun fire now and then ;))

    No- it's your soundcard drivers.
