I'm pretty much a rookie to sequencers in general but I did build the basic ones from a few tutorials and the documentation. I would like to create a sequencer that generates random notes at random times, within certain ranges. For example, generate a note every 3 to 5 seconds, all notes randomly selected from within a certain octave. If I can control the gate times somehow that would be good; I'm basically trying to have long, drawn out notes playing slowly and randomly. If there's anything already like this in the User Library, I'd love to check it out. Otherwise, any tips on building something like this would be appreciated.

You can probably do this with blocks.

Clock, Noise/S&H, quantizer, then some others to make noises:

EDIT: If you need variable gate lengths and timings, then the Block 'Util Gates & Trigs' is your friend, combine it with noise/S&H and a clock gate, and you can tweak all sorts of probabilistic timing stuff.

Here's another sequence, based on Brett's lovely sequencer, with a Pitch Quant block that controls the range of the pitches, and allows transposition and inversion of the selected pitch collection. Driven by polyrhythmic clock source Round the Clock for more randomness.
