"Re-activating" B4 ?

    Hi all,

    After uninstalling/re-installing B4 II, I'm not able to use it as a full version. When I launch it, a pop up window will ask me to activate, buy or run it as a demo. The "activate" button brings me to my NI account which (of course) tells me that B4 is activated, but it leaves no option to activate it again.
    There's no way to activate the demo version either. I'm really stuck here. Can anybody help ? :confused:

    is this on Mac or PC? Do you get this when running B4 II in standalone mode or as plugin? Is your operating system a 64 bit system or 32 bit?

    Hi Marius,

    It's a pc - Windows Vista 64 bit. The problem is the same whether I run it as a standalone or plugin - in SONAR 8.5 Producer (32 bit-version).

    please make sure to update to the latest B4 version first.

    If this does not help, you should make sure that none, neither B4 II standalone, nor Sonar nor Service Center itself runs in compatibility mode (right click on Application icon/Properties/Compatibility mode). The Compatibility mode box may not be ticked.

    Next step would be to try running the B4 II or Sonar "as administrator" and see if it then works. This is possible by right clicking on the B4 II icon, for example, and choose "run as administrator". It is not necessary to do so on my Windows 7 computer, but the default setting of the User Account control on Windows 7 is not as restrictive as on Windows Vista.

    Disabling UAC might also fix the problem. Therefore type in "uac" into your start menu search field and press the enter button.

    It could also be that you have activated DEP (Data Execution Prevention) which can easily happen after B4 crashed. In this case you find a list of applications selected for DEP under Control Panel/System/Enhanced system settings/Performance/Data Execution Prevention.

    If these suggestions do not help, you will need to copy a specific registry key. If you are not familiar with editing the registry, please contact our support, otherwise copy the data from this key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\B4 II

    to this:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Native Instruments\B4 II

    Sorry, it's a Win 7 OS - not vista :eek: . I've tried all of your suggestions but none of them worked.
    I bought this pc around half a year ago and didn't have any problems activating B4 then - did you change the activation procedure since then ?

    since it is difficult to analyze the reason for the issue from here, please file a registration support request and include the following information:

    - Export the Support File from Service Center's help menu and attach it to your post.

    - If you are familiar with the Windows registry export the following two keys and attach them:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Na tive Instruments\B4 II

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wo w6432Node\Native Instruments\B4 II

    - Please verify the B4 II version number again in standalone and add the version number in your description.

    - Refer to this thread in your request and ask for assigning this case to me.

    Break through!
    I noticed that after uninstalling B4, the key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Na tive Instruments\B4 II
    would still be there. I deleted the key manually and installed B4 - and voila!
    Safed my weekend :D

    I did send the support request but I guess it should be cancelled now.
